This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and services that leverage cloud technologies, specifically AWS and GCP. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create robust, scalable, and efficient applications that meet the needs of our users. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development, as well as a deep understanding of cloud architecture and services. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the successful deployment, integration, and performance of our solutions in cloud environments. You will also provide technical guidance to a group of backend developers and drive the implementation of backend solutions.

Responsibilities

·       Participates in the design efforts, development, and maintenance of our backend applications and infrastructure using multiple AWS and GCP services and proposes infrastructure and application improvement opportunities.

·       Guides junior developers on failure resolution and/or supports requests within our ticketing systems to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.

·       Contributes to defining service capacity planning strategies.

·       Designs and documents best practices and strategies for applications; frontend, backend, and integration development; deployment; and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.

·       Ensures projects are delivered in a timely manner.

·       Mentors other backend development team members.

·       Participates in projects that leverage cloud technologies such as AWS and GCP backend development.

 

Who We’re Looking For

·       Bachelor’s Degree (or international equivalent) or equivalent experience, required.

·       5+ years of related experience, required.

·       2+ years of experience in software development/programming and AWS development, required.

·       9+ years of related experience, preferred.

·       Strong industry knowledge and understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, etc.) along with relative strengths and weaknesses.  Ability to utilize various programming languages and technologies ( e.g. Vue, React, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, GraphQL, RDS, SQL, NoSQL, ECS, CloudFormation, Python, Java, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Native React, JavaScript, Node.JS, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, App Engine).

·       Skilled in Serverless Architecture including event-driven architecture and asynchronous implementations, API, and Microservices Design (API Gateway).  Ability to propose recommendations for infrastructure and application improvements.

·       Experience in serverless computing environments and programming models (AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions, App Engine).

·       Skilled in security techniques and recommendations.

·       Proven experience in serverless deployment automation and CI/CD patterns (AWS Serverless Model, AWS Amplify, AWS Chalice, GCP Cloud Run).

·       Serverless identity management, authentication, and authorization (AWS Cognito and Identity and Access Management (IAM).

·       Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to develop prototypes and research new and existing technologies.

·       Strong development skillset with an ability to work independently or collaboratively with team members as well as internal and external partners to ensure the delivery of sustainable and stable solutions.  Ability to facilitate code reviews and provide feedback to junior developers on code improvement, maintainability, quality, and best practices.

·       Ability to travel less than 5% of the time.

·       Must be 18 years of age or older.

·       Must successfully complete pre-employment screening process, as required.

·       Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses, as needed.
