L.L.Bean is currently searching for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Information Services (IS) team.

We welcome the opportunity for this role to be hybrid based at the corporate headquarters in Freeport, Maine.

Position Purpose 

Join a team of trailblazers dedicated to helping people discover and enjoy the outside.     L.L. Bean is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support and manage firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs critical to daily operations. This role involves engineering, troubleshooting, technical analysis, and problem-solving. 

Responsibilities: 

In this critical role you will work with a dedicated team of professionals to design and engineer firewalls, routers and switched networks.  You will also support advanced problem analysis and isolate highly complex issues, develop effective working relationships with technology and business stakeholders, maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting, provide technical leadership and coaching to other members of the team. An on-call rotation is divided among the team and on-site datacenter work is required. 

Top priority technologies skills for this position: 

Strong firewall background: 

Palo Alto NGFW, Zscaler ZIA/ZPA 

VPN, NAT, Subinterfaces, LACP, DHCP relay, Virtual routers, PBF 

F5 Load balancers/Application Delivery 

Zero Trust Networking and Micro-segmentation 

Lower priority technologies skills for this position: 

Campus switching - L2 VLANs, DHCP snooping, DAI, RSTP, Radius 

Routing - BGP, OSPF, VRF 

VPN, SDWAN, Meraki MX (firewalls), MS, MR, Wireless 

Requirements: 

You should have Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineer or related areas, a minimum of 7+ years of experience, hands-on technical knowledge of networking with at least a CCNP and working to a CCIE or equivalent.  ZCCA-PA, ZCCA-IA, ZCCP-PA, ZCCP-IA, PCNSA and PCNSE are all preferred. Having advanced knowledge of internet protocols such as HTTP(S), TCP/IP, DNS, DOH, SSL, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, wireless (802.11*), network routing, firewalls and switching. Solid proficiency with; Arista EOS, Palo Alto, Zscaler, Infoblox, ExtraHop, Splunk, Meraki, Netdisco, F5 Network. A solid understanding of system management tools like Ansible, HPNA, Arista CloudVision and. Plus to have knowledge in Windows Server and Linux operating systems. Cisco or network related certifications, customer service oriented, excellent communications skills and able to work in a team-oriented environment.
