Position Summary
We are seeking an Automation Scientist/Engineer to lead automation initiatives supporting ADC Discovery within Pfizer’s Oncology Research Unit. This role partners with subject matter experts in the Protein and Bioanalytical Sciences, Pharmacology, and Biology teams to analyze current processes and identify impactful automation improvements in cell screening, protein and ADC production, and sample distribution. The Engineer will drive and support projects that streamline workflows, enhance Key Productivity Indicators, and accelerate cancer therapeutics research. These activities will require onsite work at our Bothell, WA campus.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Engineering or related field, with 9+ years of experience, or Master’s Degree with 7+ years of experience in laboratory setting, including 3+ years developing laboratory automation of varying complexityProgramming skills in C+ and Python to enhance automated platformsAbility to program liquid handling robotics with strong knowledge of liquid class optimizationAbility to lead projects independently, with an understanding of when to seek guidanceStrong troubleshooting and automation methodology capabilitiesDesire to assist colleagues when needed with automation related issuesStrong track record of making data-driven decisionsDemonstrated use of metrics to convey automation improvementsStrong communication skills with ability build strong cross functional relationships and to report progress to leadershipPreferred Qualifications
Prior experience with Tecan, Hamilton, and SPT Labtech liquid handlers, including end-to-end coding of new methodsExperience writing plans, protocols, and reports for equipment qualification, experimental design, feasibility studies, and validationExperience as a bench scientist performing protein purification and/or cell-based assaysExperience applying automation to protein purificationExperience applying automation to cell-based assaysPrior experience with automated freezers and automating sample logisticsExperience with process mapping and Gantt chartingExperience building customized parts for improved automationExperience with automated data integration with ELN applicationsPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, ability to perform complex data analysis and ability to perform instrument programming, troubleshooting and maintenance

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,900.00 to $151,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
