Position Summary:
The Sales Specialist position will be responsible for developing and supporting sales opportunities by translating deep domain expertise and product knowledge into compelling positioning, competitive and selling strategies. The sales specialist helps to increase the velocity of the sales and chances of closing the business with close collaboration with the sales team. The goal is to promote rapid adoption of lllumina technology by providing segment and technical knowledge into supporting sales opportunities. The specialist will develop end-to-end solutions and build a community of satisfied customers by working with sales, channel partners and marketing in both pre- and post-sales activities. Input into strategy, execution and supporting short and mid-term planning and direction in respective segment.
This role will focus on driving lllumina's Cell and molecular biology and Emerging Methodologies business in South Korea to facilitate adoption of lllumina technology across the region.
Responsibilities:
Be the subject matter expert for emerging and existing research applications (e.g. core sequencing including platform, microarray, proteomics, long-read, spatial) and voice of customer to regional management, global product management, marketing and market development.Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the market environment including current and possible future market trends, practices and information affecting the business; industry trends; competition and competitive environment; marketplace strategies and tactics.Identify and interact with key customer’s and stakeholder groups to develop new sales opportunities and facilitate the introduction of Illumina products into new customer markets.Advise customers on technical aspects such as end-to-end workflows, study design, possible solutions, product positioning and competitor comparisons. Employs creative solutions to overcome barriers.Work with district sales teams to impart deep domain knowledge, including discussion of relevant publications and supporting literature with key customers.Have a deep knowledge of Illumina’s products and the value to customers including sequencing, microarray and relevant software/informatics solutions.Providing engaging presentations to drive market interest in lllumina technologies.Be recognized by the community as a market expert and a valuable addition to discussions and conference programs.Attend relevant trade shows and conferences where required.In collaboration with district sales and marketing teams, develop and execute strategic plans for winning new business, expanding market share, and building upon existing programs manifested by a qualified pipeline of opportunities.Identify and interact with key customer types such as [Service providers and core labs] to develop new sales opportunities and facilitate the introduction of Illumina products into new customer groupsMake recommendations to sales management on ways to approach the district market with new assays and technologies or ways for customers to develop solutions within target customer base.Be the primary conduit between the customer and Illumina for a custom and/or customized product development project (e.g. custom genotyping arrays, custom sequencing panels, custom analysis).Spend a significant amount of time in the field, visiting KOL customers to maintain positive relationships, implement selling strategies, tactics and driving key sales opportunities related to Illumina’s products.Identify and interact with key opinion leaders and key customers in the relevant segment to develop new sales opportunities and facilitate the introduction of Illumina products into new customer groups.Providing strategic and competitive feedback to field marketing.Research and identify new market opportunities in emerging methodologies in association with sales partners and marketing teams.Work closely with global market development to assess regional markets to determine viability of new applications in region.Is regularly called upon to advise and interact at a global level due to their relationships and stature within the community.Utilise cross functional teams (e.g. FAS) to build businessAssist, as time permits, with other business development activities.Regularly communicate updates to management of in-district sales performance, forecast updates, trends and any issues related to their specific product line performance, competitor activities, or other issues emerging in assigned territory.Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Requirements:
Prior business or sales and field experience supporting customers in a highly technical field such as Next Generation Sequencing, Array-based Genotyping, molecular diagnostics or molecular testing preferred.Recognized deep expertise in Proteomics/long-read/Single cell/Spatial and can Independently work on highly complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables.Excellent time management skills – is able to prioritize workload accordingly and demonstrated communication (verbal and written both Korean and English) presentation and training skills.Familiarity with the competitive landscape and trends in the research landscape.Demonstrated proactiveness in initiating and accomplishing tasks.Proven ability to lead and influence a broad spectrum of constituents (internal stakeholders, external shareholders and key opinion leaders in the field) with divergent interests in order to create a nationalwide project for defined and focused course of action.Network of established customer relationships and Strong negotiation skills and the ability to persuade.Ability to travel within district and regionally to carry out primary responsibilities, must be willing to travel up to 50%.Demonstrated superior problem solving and interpersonal skills in a customer facing environment.Reporting basic financial data.All listed requirements are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.
Experience/Education:
