Core Responsibilities


As a Sr Purchasing Advisor you play a key role within the Procurement team that supports the planning, logistics and storage of the flow of good & services within the purchasing portfolio.  More specifically, your responsibilities encompass overseeing the procurement cycle, starting from the initial discussions about purchasing needs with stakeholders & vendors, through to proper receipt of goods & services, returns of unsatisfactory products as necessary, as well as the storage and warehousing of inventory.

 Technical

Communicate effectively across multiple disciplines to understand their procurement needs and collaborate with stakeholders to develop effective procurement strategies.

Initiate, issue, and administer purchase orders and change orders through predetermined procedures based on stakeholders’ needs and inventory requirements.

Interact with Engineering, Operations & Construction staff to monitor revisions and amendments to scopes.

Assist with category management, expediting and logistics.  

Follow up and maintain records for receipts, shipments, inventory, and materials management matters.

Ensure shipments are received in good condition, cross-reference product deliveries with purchase orders.

Negotiate Contracts and Terms and Conditions.

Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns.

Centrally maintain documents and reports that will be used to administer all aspects of the order function.

Lift and handle products for transport and storage while using shop equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts.

Handle hazardous materials, maintaining inventory levels, loading and unloading trucks.

Assist in maintaining inventory levels/counts and investigate variances.

Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency.

Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate them into the procurement process.

Other duties as assigned.

Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.

Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy. 

Education and Experience

Education

Education: Post-secondary education, degree in Supply Chain (SCMP) or similar

Experience: 10+ years in procurement and logistics.

Preference for candidates with experience in Oil & Gas (energy) industry preferred.

Experience

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP and CMS systems.

A self-starter with the ability to work independently towards deadlines with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Shipping, storage, and handling of chemicals, WHMIS and Transportation for Dangerous Goods certification an asset.

Inventory and warehouse experience in an industrial setting considered an asset. 

Forklift license considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

Carbon Engineering offers a competitive compensation package including:

Base salary is $102,850 to $121,000 depending on relevant experience

Up to 20% target for annual bonus

5% RRSP available after 1-year of service
