The food safety and quality advisor senior role is an incredible opportunity for a food safety and quality professional to support supplier food safety & quality initiatives with our network of suppliers.  You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and Starbucks’ suppliers to support the implementation of food safety and quality programs, ensuring the delivery of safe, wholesome, and premium-quality products to our customers.

As a sr food safety and quality advisor, you will…

Manage food safety and quality risks across diverse product categories (e.g., freeze-dried ingredients, dry mixes, syrups, sauces, aseptic products). Analyze quality metrics, audits, customer feedback, and regulatory data to identify and mitigate risks. Use data-driven insights to improve product performance and manufacturing processes. Lead investigations and resolve product issues from regulators, stores, field QA teams, and customers. Ensure new products meet or exceed food safety and quality standards. Provide expert guidance on food safety and quality in product development and operations. Support supplier qualification by evaluating food safety programs and process capabilities. Build strong, trust-based relationships with cross-functional teams and suppliers to promote a culture of quality.

We’d love to hear from people with:

Bachelor’s degree in general science, Food Science, Microbiology, Environmental Public Health, or related field. 4–7 years of food safety and quality experience in food/beverage manufacturing, including plant operations. Proven ability to develop and implement product safety and quality standards. Expertise in food science, technology, manufacturing, QA, microbiology, and 21 CFR regulations (e.g., Parts 113, 117, 120, 123, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance [PMO]). Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, PCQI, GFSI, sanitation, and food safety audits; skilled in SPC, root cause analysis, and CAPA. Proficient in qualitative and quantitative data analysis and creative problem-solving. Highly organized, adaptable, and effective communicator in fast-paced environments.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.  For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
