We're looking for an experienced, driven, analytical, and creative Senior Manager to define the strategy and drive the packaging sustainability roadmap in the European Sustainable Packaging Team. The European Sustainable Packaging team owns the programs that reduce the outbound packaging material weight per shipment aiming to lessen the burden of packaging waste management for customers, decrease fulfilment cost and carbon emissions. We are a team of Data Engineers, Product Managers, Packaging and Process Improvement Experts that interfaces with core Sustainability, Operations, Engineering, Amazon Robotics, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Public Relations to identify solutions that eliminate waste, reduce damage, driving significant savings for Amazon and ultimately delights our customers. In this role, you will both think big and execute, creating solutions that scale across the billions of products Amazon sells. You will use your communication, negotiation and influencing skills to drive consensus across multiple stakeholders while driving Sustainability initiatives that deliver the best-in-class Sustainability experience for customers around the world.
You will be successful in this role if you passionately develop new packaging concepts based on existing and learned expertise in packaging materials, operational processes, and supply chains. You lead a team of packaging and process experts on the design and implementational operational test plans for rapid learning and iteration of packaging design and material specifications. You will stay up to date on packaging trends, quickly identifying the best technical solutions that can solve improve packaging end-of-life and circularity for Amazon and our customers. Once a solution is designed, you will quickly shift to an operator’s perspective to drive efficient and effective implementation across Amazon’s fulfillment network. This is a highly visible role that requires refined verbal and written communication, negotiation and influencing skills to drive consensus across multiple cross-functional stakeholders. You will develop solutions, mechanisms, roadmaps, tracking systems and communication plans that will delight internal and external customers.
The ideal candidate will have a record of successful experience combining business, technical competencies, and people management skills. They will be able to gather business requirements and creating data-driven solutions that have measurable customer impact, and demonstrating exemplary written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will have to set the right vision, strategy and roadmap, and work alongside stakeholders in the organization to make it happen.
The ability to work independently and deal with an ambiguous environment is a must. Ownership of work is extremely important, and candidates should have a proven record of driving projects and strategic initiatives to their completion. • Provide strategic direction, coaching, and mentorship to develop the skills and capabilities of the team. Fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
• Define and drive the implementation of sustainable packaging process improvement initiatives in alignment with the overall Amazon Sustainable Packaging Strategy.
• Analyze performance data, identify areas for improvement, and propose data-driven strategies to enhance process efficiency.
• Implement robust management mechanism to drive consistency, efficiency, and quality in initiatives covering end-to-end fulfilment operations.
• Identify and lead the implementation of best practices in system configuration, and trouble ticketing management system to attend operations at scale.
• Develop scalable systems and workflows to support the consistent and efficient delivery of sustainable packaging solutions.
• Lead the definition and governance of key packaging sustainability metrics, drive the vision and building of automated dashboards and self-service analytic capabilities, and engineer data-driven processes that drive business value.
• Lead end-to-end the business review processes and program management for Packaging Experience and Sustainable Packaging.
• Serve as a strategic partner to senior leaders, collaborating on long-term planning and decision-making.
• Effectively communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations to key stakeholders across the organization.
• Dealing with ambiguity to develop solutions that work for stakeholders from various disciplines to meet ambitious timeline.
• Actively contribute to the development of the European Sustainable Packaging Strategy and translate it into executable Operational Plans.
