The Pacific Northwest Field Site has a rich heritage of supporting our customers with innovative solutions. We relish being at the tip of the spear supporting state-of-the-art technology. As a Sr. Principal Field Engineer, a qualified candidate is expected to install, operate, maintain, repair and modify equipment. Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyze and evaluate products and related performance. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time. Install, upgrade and remove products associated with engineering change instructions. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. Provide onsite training of customer support personnel on classified undersea systems and related support equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities include the following in support of fielded Naval systems:
Attend meetings and serve as a liaison between Northrop Grumman, the customer and partner contract teamsAssist and develop proficiency with various engineering and operational duties as requiredSupport integration & test process development & executionAddress obsolescence via tech refreshDevelop and provide classroom and simulator trainingDevelop operating procedures and work instructionsPerform installation and maintenance (hands-on technician role) using Navy Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) processesPerform and support the review and analysis of engineering schematics, supplier design data, support of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration on fielded systemsLiaison with other organizations (Navy, shipyard, co-contractors)Represent the organization as the system matter expert (SME) on projectsInteract with senior external stakeholders on technical matters often requiring coordination between organizationsSupport business development opportunitiesAble to work after hours and weekends as neededBasic Qualifications for Sr Principal Field Engineer:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 10+ years of related experience. An additional of 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.10+ years experience with undersea sensor payloads and their associated maintenance and troubleshooting10+ years extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUV)10+ years extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV)Strong understanding of UUV and ROV subsystems, sensors, mission planning, data perception, and post mission analysisMust have an active DoD Top Secret Clearance. Must have active DoD Top Secret Clearance to Start. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain, Department of Defense Top Secret with SCI Access and Counter Intelligence Polygraph for continued employment.Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years experience with ESD/Component Handling5+ years experience with the use of Electrical Test EquipmentA fundamental understanding of optical fiber principles (Light propagation, reflection, refraction, losses, attenuation, fiber types, components, terminations)5+ years experience with the use of Fiber Optic Test Equipment (OTDRs, Power Meters, Light Sources)Electrical Assembly (wiring, termination, soldering)Experience with Shipyard Environment and Familiarity with the Navy JFMMExperience with Navy education and training methods and philosophyUnderstanding of Hydraulics Components and DrawingsUnderstanding of Mechanical Principals and DrawingsComputer NetworkingAble to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.Able to work without appreciable direction and exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignmentSalary Range: $108,400.00 - $162,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
