Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Architect (25-267) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This role, based in Huntsville, AL, is vital in supporting the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Relocation Assistance is not available for this position, and this role is on-site with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program functions as the central element of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle's progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapons systems to meet global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense system that delivers an optimized response to threats across all ranges and phases of flight. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally to improve performance. Moreover, C2BMC is a key part of all ground and flight tests of the system, which verify and validate current and future missile defense capabilities.

C2BMC is an exciting and dynamic program in the Missile Defense and Space mission areas. It has a long history of providing solutions to the Missile Defense Agency and currently continues to be contracted to develop new and innovative solutions for these missions. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work across both Missile Defense and Space domains within C2BMC. They will be part of an integrated architecture and systems engineering team on a multi-company program, responsible for defining the operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture needed to realize the vision and desired capabilities of an evolving C2BMC effort. The candidate will contribute to designing missile defense command, control, and battle management systems within an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components, with DoD interoperability in mind.

Essential Functions:

Will participate in analyzing high-level needs through a structured and logical approachWill be responsible for creating System Architecture solutions and concepts for a variety of new and emerging capabilities for the C2BMC system in collaboration with other Architects, including lead Systems Architect, software architects, network architect, cyber architect, etc.Communicates and collaborates on System Architecture solutions with other teams such as software developers, network engineers, cyber engineers, DevSecOps teams, infrastructure teams, test teams, and deployment teamsThis includes both physical architecture and logical architecture across the SystemWill interface with project leads, product owners, and MDA customersWill present architecture concepts to a large variety of audiences and serve as the focal point for the System Architecture for the Capability for the development, test, and deployment effortsWill present at internal and external design reviewsWill assist in documenting or reviewing architectures in an MBSE tool such as CAMEOMaintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and design methodologies in the area of DoD Command and Control and COTS/FOSS information technology productsMust have Systems Engineering/Architecture and/or Test Experience on a DoD ProgramMust have the desire to be a Systems Architect on a complex Command and Control DoD ProgramMust have excellent communication skills and be able to present technical concepts to a diverse group of engineersExperience being part of a team that architected systems in an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components with DoD interoperability in mindExperience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutionsFamiliar with software development and Java-based software solutionsFamiliar with Agile developmentFamiliar with requirements management tools, e.g., DOORSFamiliar with private cloud solutions and IT technologies such as:VMWareNutanixRedHatNetworking solution

Basic Qualifications:

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
