In Fortune Brands Innovation, Inc. we're looking a Packaging Engineer (Consumer Products) for our New Innovation Center in Nuevo Leon, in this role you will be part of the Packaging Engineering Team that focuses on customer-facing packaging for the entire Fortune Brands Innovations portfolio of mechanical and connected products. You will have responsibility for collaborating with internal and external partners to deliver packaging solutions that meet a variety of requirements, including cost, sustainability, and adequate product protection. The types of projects you work on will range from following established guidelines and standards, to developing entirely new platformed solutions.
Job DescriptionLead cross-functional packaging development efforts from concept through commercialization, ensuring alignment with product, marketing, operations, and sustainability goals.Develop and execute robust project plans with clear sequencing, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure swift and successful execution.Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new materials, technologies, and processes that enhance product protection, user experience, and environmental performance.Mentor and support team members, sharing expertise, offering feedback, and helping others navigate complex challenges.Champion continuous improvement by proactively identifying opportunities to optimize packaging efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.Apply sound judgment to evaluate trade-offs, make timely decisions, and escalate when appropriate.Utilize and adapt standardized tools and processes to support both routine and non-standard packaging development and testing.Lead packaging efforts for both new product development and product improvement initiatives of any complexity.Collaborate effectively across functions, fostering alignment, resolving challenges, and ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged.Participate in and lead brainstorming sessions, contributing creative ideas and building on others’ input to develop breakthrough packaging solutions.Stay ahead of industry trends, leveraging market insights and platform knowledge to inform packaging strategies and platform development.Ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems, supporting team-wide standardization and knowledge sharing.Model accountability and ownership, consistently delivering on commitments and learning from both successes and setbacks.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Design or relevant packaging engineering experience is a must.8+ years of progressive experience in packaging engineering, preferably in consumer products or manufacturing environments.Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage ambiguity, and deliver results under pressure.Strong knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing methods, and performance testing standards (ISTA, ASTM, etc.).Demonstrated ability to balance planning with urgency, ensuring rapid progress while maintaining quality and alignment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a reputation for clear, concise, and professional collaboration.Professional English proficiency (written / verbal communication)Valid US visa and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Well-versed in solutions for sustainability (materials, processes, etc.)Experience working with packaging implementation for automationFamiliarity with evolving packaging regulations across the US and EuropePackaging-related simulation experience, a plus
