Your role at Baxter

Assumes a technical lead role in the programming and machining operations of critical spare parts and tooling for automated manufacturing equipment.  Interfaces with outside vendors, designers, engineering and plant customers.  Perform advanced CNC setup and programming of CAM software for the machining of close tolerance parts. Assist in performing regular and scheduled maintenance for CNC equipment.  Advises and assists in effecting design changes to improve efficiency in the design for manufacture, product quality and/or reduce the cost to manufacture.

What you'll be doing

Under minimal supervision, able to set up vertical machining centers with tooling, fixturing and programs necessary for short run production of close tolerance parts.Advanced working knowledge of measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, gages and digital measurement equipment to perform first and subsequent part quality checks.Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation to verify adherence to standard practices and tolerancing.Maintains CAM programs, machine setup sheets, fixture and tooling inventory.May occasionally assist in the training of other personnel.Able to prepare new CNC programs for use in production and update existing programs to reflect shop, engineering or program changes from CAD using CAM software.Adheres to all environmental, health and safety SOPs, equipment, policies and procedures.Able to create sketches and redlines of changes on the shop floor to communicate design alterations to engineering.  Provide design feedback in review and project close-out meetings.Completes fabrication and project delivery within time requirements established by management.Able to perform other duties as assigned or required and work overtime as required.

What you'll bring

High School Diploma or GED required with 5+ years of industry experience utilizing CAD/CAM to produce high quality close tolerance machined parts Or Technical training/certification with 3 years of related experience.Experience with SolidWorks, MasterCam and HAAS vertical machining centers a plus.Able to read and interpret mechanical CAD drawings and through CAM software create tooling paths and order of operations for best efficiency.Skilled using hand tools for deburring and final finishing of parts.Good communication ability and basic computer skills required.Solid math aptitude including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions is required.Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Able to work from heights up to 10 ft. and in limited spaces within equipment to install and service systems.  Work while wearing proper PPE.Ability to exercise independent judgment and draw accurate conclusions based on available information.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $56,000 to $77,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
