As a Senior Manager – Embedded Software at Baxter, your work contributes directly to making a significant impact on others. As part of our Patient Support Systems and Global Surgical Solutions team, you will help provide highly innovative integration solutions for Operating Rooms and medical facilities.  Our vision is focused on new ways to improve the daily operations of the surgical teams as well as helping patient recover across the care continuum in the hospital.
This role will be embedded in the R&D team and provide technical leadership to a team involved in the development of innovative solutions for the patient support systems and surgical environment. You will put your experience at the service of the development team to raise the technical level and create unique products.

This position is based out of Bangalore and reporting to the Director for Patient Support Systems and Global Surgical Solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide technology leadership for robust embedded software development across multiple NPD, sustaining and TCO projects for Baxter’s Patient Support Systems and Global Surgical solutions portfolio.

Provide people leadership via performance development/career progression, Program leadership via collaborating with cross-functional teams, driving project planning/execution excellence and Technology leadership via driving high quality engineering and innovation within the team.

Take total ownership of the team’s deliverables and ensure on time delivery with high quality.

Be a change agent. Drive agility, process simplification in the organization and demonstrate sense of urgency.

Champion continuous improvement activities by initiating process and product quality improvement initiatives. Drive functional excellence initiatives in the teams

Coach and/or mentor staff resulting in all round competence enhancement and career progression.

Drive a strong culture of innovation in the team.

Stay abreast of Technology trends and be an agent for product evolution.

Actively participate in recruiting candidates for technical positions and mentor junior technical staff.

A solid technical understanding of the principles and procedures of software engineering (e.g., SDLC, IEC 62304, CMMI, Agile).

Continue build expertise on  embedded software development, and push the boundaries including but not limited to adoption of AI to improve productivity, solutions and outcomes.

Be passionate about software quality and be prepared to advocate on behalf of good processes and best practices.

Incorporates business, market, industry and competitive knowledge into technical solutions that can be readily adapted to changes in technology and/or clinical use.

Seeks out knowledge of the business, market, industry and competitive environment.

Challenges project teams and established work processes and proactively finds creative methods to reach desired performance levels.

Participate and actively contribute towards budgeting and planning, as well as ensuring adherence to budgets.

Strategic planning and lead different initiatives towards achieving organizational goals.

Your Team:

You will be reporting to the Director for Patient Support Systems & Global Surgical Solutions. This position has direct reports. You will need to work collaboratively with R&D, Marketing, Finance and other cross functions.  

Your Location:

The role is located in the BRD facility in Bangalore India. 

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer/ Electronics Engineering, Computer Science with 18+ years of work experience in Software development with at least 5+ years’ experience managing Software product development teams in a matrix organization.

Experience in at least multiple complete embedded software development life cycle from concept to release and sustaining in a medical product domain.

Experience with developing embedded software for connected medical devices with sensing and actuation controls and communication through Bluetooth, wifi etc.

Expertise in ISO1385 based design controls and experience in launching medical devices with certifications such as FDA 510K, and exposure to other global medical device and software standards.

Deep understanding of many technological areas below:

Experience in algorithms, code optimization, encryption, multiple language support

C, C++, Embedded C, Assembly

Ability to work in a Linux development environment

ARM / AVR /STM processor development

Experience in embedded RTOS development

Experience with USB, Ethernet, RS232, Bluetooth, Wifi, Zigbee and other   communications protocols

Experience with sensor sampling

Ability to develop boot loader code for microcontrollers

Debugging software/hardware using logic analyzer or Oscilloscope

FPGA programming skills would be a plus

Knowledge in JAVA and Python would be a plus

Intel embedded X86 development a plus

DSP & Video processing knowledge is a plus.

Working level knowledge with standards such as IEC 62304, IEC 62366, IEC 60601, ISO 13485 and ISO14971.

Broad understanding of many technological areas is a plus.

Analysis and Design: Object oriented architecture, Design Patterns, UML

Embedded Software Development

Programming Languages/Backend: Java (Java Spring Boot 1.5, Spring Tool Suite 4.4.12, Spring Framework 4.3.24, JDK 8, Apache Tomcat), Python, node js, any mobile app development language (iOS Swift 4.0, Kotlin)

Programming and Framework Client: HTML5, Javascript, Flutter Framework (or any other mobile framework), JQuery, Angular JS, ReactJS, AngularJS, React Bootstrap, React PDF, Crypto JS, SCSS

Enterprise Integration: Design patterns for enterprise integration, SOA, SOAP/REST, Microservices, Web portal API (REST APIs)

Middleware: Enbeddded OS, RTOS, Apache Tomcat, Windows Server, Linux, etc.

Development and Continuous Integration: Eclipse, SVN, Git, JIRA, Fisheye, Sonar, Clover, etc.

Database: Oracle, Mysql

Unit Testing: Junits

Experience executing projects in healthcare regulated environment.

Exposure to Dev Ops tools and trends

Exposure to software subsystem verification

Experience driving Agile / Lean Software development methodologies in team.

Deep understanding of Software development and product development processes.

Strong Leadership and Communication skills.

Ability to build & sustain relationship with various stakeholders

Ability to handle competing priorities and maintain high energy and drive team engagement

Experience building strong teams and creating a culture of innovation and high-quality product engineering within the team.

Ability to mentor team members and support career development.

Exposure to Big data & analytics and related technologies

DICOM interoperability, HL7 and healthcare standards.

Sharp Business & Financial acumen.

Experience with SAFe methodology.

PMP certification is a plus.

AWS certification is a plus.
