Sr Metrologist

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Metrologist will have responsibility for critical test, measurement and calibration processes and procedures throughout the organization. The incumbent is expected to have technical skill to understand the product requirements and customer requirements, as well as detailed knowledge of the appropriate metrology standards and methods of traceability to apply in each situation. Deep understanding of the Guide to Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) and experience with ISO 17025 certifications are essential. Ability to communicate uncertainty calculations and traceability methods to internal and external stakeholders is expected.

 

The Metrologist will work closely with the Engineering, Marketing, and Operations teams to create accurate error budgets that support product capability and customer requirements and will also be responsible to ensure test methods and procedures support high levels of integrity (including potential ISO 17025 accreditation).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Enhance, align, and manage metrology programs at relevant business sites.

· Ensure test, measurement, and calibration practices are NMI traceable to the SI.

· Report test and calibration results and comply with quality management systems.

· Prepare metrology plans for accreditation by third-party organizations like A2LA.

· Analyze processes, report measurement uncertainties, and utilize quality assurance techniques.

· Develop and implement metrology requirements at various sites.

· Align with customer teams on requirements and scope, support system integration, and respond to issues and escalations.

· Provide metrology support across multiple AE facilities and product families.

· Understand industry trends and technical requirements to determine AE's metrology strategy.

· Create visibility and credibility for AE in metrology forums and with key customers.

· Lead efforts to gain and retain accreditation at appropriate sites.

· Serve as a consultant to peer groups within AE in support of new product development.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· On-site work in a standard office environment

· Occasional travel domestic and international for short periods

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Understanding of the Guide to Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM)

· Ability to provide metrology support across multiple AE facilities and product families.

 

EXPERIENCE:

· 7 years relevant experience in metrology or related work

· 2 years of experience working directly with the specific customers, products, and applications in the market segments Advanced Energy serves

· Experience with industry standards and user groups

· Thorough understanding of statistics

 

EDUCATION:

· Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited university
