Sr Manager, Testing & Automation

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Sr Manager, Testing & Automation at our Tysons. Virginia location. The primary purpose of the Sr Manager, Testing & Automation is to manage the testing and automation architecture for PenFed’s decision rules. This role will also manage offshore and onshore staff in addition to developing and maintaining automation frameworks for PenFed’s automated lending system and projects relating to consumer credit risk, collections and other rules and decision-based functions. Develop testing staffing models based upon testing needs, inclusive of onshore and offshore contractors, to include sizing, reporting structures, job needs and descriptions and KPIs of staff and vendors. Work with Consumer Credit Policy product owners and rules developers to strategize test scenarios for various types of policies and features. Engineer test suites to validate various types of software applications including, but not limited to web UI, Agent applications, RESTful APIs, and web services. Develop software quality assurance (SQA) test plans for assigned projects. Experience in setting up QA automation and performance testing infrastructure to create complex end-to-end and integration tests. Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products, demonstrating the ability to decompose complex algorithms into testable variables. Provide technical support for identifying, reporting, tracking and resolving daily operational problems in credit systems, make formal recommendations regarding enhancements or changes. Provide summary analysis on testing results and progress to senior leadership. Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts. Document and communicate test results and system defects to stakeholders. Properly escalate risks to appropriate parties Share knowledge with fellow team members, mentoring junior team members on test best practices. Prepare how-to guides and process related artifacts. Effectively communicate and collaborate with various levels of internal stakeholders to build and maintain partnerships within the Consumer Banking organization. Assist and support internal stakeholders in testing complex credit policy rules. Identify opportunities to streamline and automate internal processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Assist developers with test development. Stay up to date with new testing tools and test strategies. Qualifications Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or statistics is required, a master’s degree preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience with at least one server-side web technology and language Java, C#, Python, etc. is required. Minium of two (2) years of direct management experience required. Experience with modern/opensource tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, JMeter, etc. is required. Experience in building or working with RESTful web services via JSON or XML is required. Knowledge of Loan Origination Systems (LOS) preferred and experience with decisioning systems highly preferred. Solid understanding of Agile and Kanban methodologies. Self-starter, comfortable leading conversations and assisting in driving architectural decisions and designs. Enthusiasm and an ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. Supervisory Responsibility This position will supervise employees. Licenses and Certifications There are no additional certifications required. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise. *Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.* Travel Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call is required.
