As an Engineering Support Specialist I at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role on a cross-disciplinary team that specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of novel, state-of-the-art optical and science instruments for military, government, and commercial space applications, including Earth observation, atmospheric monitoring, space situational awareness, maritime traffic monitoring, and optical communications. You will be integral in creating software system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Cambridge, Ontario location on a hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will collaborate with others to help define software requirements, design software architectures, and ensure the successful implementation, testing, and delivery of projects. Your technical skills will be crucial in driving the development of reliable and high-performance software for space applications. Your expertise in software development, design, integration, and testing will be instrumental in shaping the future of technology and space exploration.

The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP and CSP security clearance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

\n\nProvide technical solutions and support on development programs as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team.\nDevelop embedded software and software applications for Space products.\nCreate or utilize software-level requirements, architecture, detailed design, and test plan documentation to meet program and customer needs.\nParticipate in requirements analysis and design verification and validation activities.\nTest, debug, and troubleshoot software, systems, and electronics to resolve issues.\nPerform simulation and analyses and develop system-level models to ensure end-to-end performance requirements of software designs are met.\nParticipate in the building of software/hardware systems, test systems, and harnesses.\nProvide technical support to customers.\nDevelop documentation according to space agency standards (e.g. CSA, NASA, ESA).\nContribute to the continuous improvement of processes.\n\n

 

YOU MUST HAVE

\n\nBachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.\nMinimum 1 year of experience in a software development role.\nMinimum 1 year of experience in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, and Python.\nMinimum of 1 year working with software development methodologies and tools involving both embedded software and application-level software.\n\n

\n\nExperience with product development and knowledge of industry best practices in the Aerospace/Space industry.\nExperience with embedded Linux/UNIX.\nExperience with system-level simulation tools such as MATLAB.\nExperience with safety-critical software and systems development.\nSQL database experience.\nUnderstanding of various software development lifecycle models.\nFamiliarity with Jira.\nFamiliarity with Source Management tools such as Github.\nKnowledge of software configuration management and change management practices.\nAbility to quickly analyze, incorporate, and apply new information and concepts.\nAbility to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and adapt to project changes.\nAbility to simultaneously manage a variety of complicated tasks.\nA results-oriented and structured problem-solving approach.\nA passion for innovation and continuous learning.\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.\nExcellent communication and people-oriented skills.\nSelf-motivation and the ability to work with little supervision, consistently taking the initiative to get things done.\n\n
