Job Summary

The Senior Environmental Specialist supports Company policies and procedures and Departmental Leadership, to assure that the Company operations are in compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental protection regulations. This role will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures to achieve compliance in the most cost-effective manner while avoiding the negative impacts of noncompliance. The Senior Environmental Specialist has a proactive mindset and looks forward to the opportunity to be part of meaningful and impactful initiatives that drive the future of Southwest.

ResponsibilitiesAssist with enterprise-wide environmental regulatory complianceSupport environmental regulatory policy and procedure development for existing and proposed regulationAssist in developing environmental training programs that align with environmental policies and proceduresAssist in environmental inspection and oversightAssist with review of legal obligations associated with Company contracts or leasesRepresent Southwest Airlines before environmental regulators and industryMay perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGeneral working environmental knowledge as it applies to environmental regulatory complianceKnowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulationsSkilled in verbal and written communicationAbility to understand and interpret complex technical informationEducationRequired: High School Diploma or GED

ExperienceIntermediate level experience, fully functional broad knowledge in:Corporate environmental workPreferred: Experience with air regulationsPreferred: Knowledge of environmental regulations

Pay & Benefits

Competitive market salary from $78,850 to $87,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
