Micron is seeking a Senior Dry Etch Equipment Engineer with extensive hands-on experience supporting AMAT Dry Etch toolsets in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for leading tool ownership, driving equipment performance improvements, and performing advanced trouble-shooting and recovery strategies. The ideal candidate will work directly on AMAT chambers, RF systems, and vacuum components, collaborating with multi-functional teams and vendors to reduce defects, improve yield, and ensure process stability. This position requires a proactive, data-driven approach to equipment engineering, with a strong focus on reliability, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Perform hands-on preventive maintenance, trouble-shooting, and recovery on AMAT Dry Etch equipment to ensure optimal tool uptime and performance.
Conduct training sessions for technicians on AMAT tool operation, maintenance procedures, and excursion awareness.
Coordinate weekly PM schedules and align maintenance activities with area constraints and current WIP levels.
Monitor and handle spare parts inventory, including AMAT-specific components, and coordinate procurement with buyers.
Optimize AMAT chamber configurations to meet RF trigger thresholds and improve First Run Metrics (FRM).
Collaborate with AMAT vendors to enhance chamber reliability, process stability, and consumables management.
Diagnose complex equipment issues using systematic trouble-shooting techniques and provide recovery plans with accurate ETAs.
Support cost reduction initiatives by finding opportunities to lower repair and maintenance expenses.
Assist Process Owners with AMAT process conversions, chamber matching, and defect reduction strategies.
Participate in SPC/FDC initiatives to improve process control, reduce tool alarms, and minimize excursions.
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on Dry Etch Equipment Maintenance experience, specifically with AMAT toolsets.
3+ years of experience working in a semiconductor cleanroom/fab environment.
Strong understanding of vacuum systems, RF power delivery, gas delivery systems, and chamber hardware.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform systematic trouble-shooting and maintain high-volume manufacturing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on Equipment Engineering experience working on AMAT Dry Etch toolsets in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
Proven track record to trouble-shoot and resolve complex equipment issues, driving improvements in AMAT tool performance and reliability.
Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while adapting to changing fab priorities and conditions.
Strong proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., JMP) and factory automation systems, with the ability to generate data-driven problem statements and identify embedded correlations.
