Job Summary

The Senior Director-Capital Markets FF&L is responsible for leading the strategic direction, platform expansion, and execution of Flagstar Bank’s equipment leasing capital markets activities, including acquisitions, lease syndications, and secondary market distribution. This executive-level role is accountable for shaping the bank’s leasing growth strategy, deepening institutional investor relationships, and ensuring disciplined, risk-adjusted deal execution. The position oversees a high-performing team of capital markets professionals and partners closely with senior stakeholders across the organization, including Risk, Credit, Legal, and Treasury, to deliver enterprise value through innovative capital markets solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

Enterprise Strategy & Platform Leadership Develop and execute a multi-year strategic roadmap to scale the leasing capital markets platform, with clear growth goals for originations, syndications, and distribution channels.Champion the bank’s market position by cultivating and expanding strategic relationships with institutional investors, non-bank lenders, and secondary market participants.Define pricing strategies, risk-return frameworks, and capital-efficient structures to drive sustainable profitability and market competitiveness.Collaborate with executive leadership to align capital markets activities with broader commercial and corporate banking objectives.Executive Team Leadership & Organizational Development Lead and develop a high-performing team of capital markets professionals, including origination, structuring, and distribution personnel.Establish a performance-driven culture centered on innovation, accountability, and client excellence.Drive enterprise collaboration across Risk, Credit, Legal, and Lending functions to facilitate seamless deal execution and policy alignment.Serve as a mentor and succession planner for future leadership within the capital markets and leasing organization.Transaction Structuring, Syndication & Execution Oversight Oversee the structuring, negotiation, and distribution of complex lease transactions and portfolio sales.Review and approve transaction terms, ensuring adherence to regulatory, legal, and risk management guidelines.Lead portfolio strategy initiatives to optimize returns, manage credit exposure, and enhance balance sheet efficiency.Partner with Treasury and Finance to align capital markets activities with funding strategy and asset/liability management.Market Intelligence, Governance & External Engagement Monitor regulatory, economic, and competitive trends affecting leasing and structured finance markets to inform strategy and policy development.Serve as a senior spokesperson for Flagstar Financial & Leasing at conferences, investor forums, and industry roundtables.Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks related to capital markets activities.Drive continuous improvement in operational risk management, transaction governance, and client due diligence processes.Uses independent judgement and discretion to make high impact decisionsAnalyzes and resolves problems pertaining toResponsible for talent management functions including: employment, performance evaluations, staff development/training, disciplinary actions, succession planning and ensuring all staff comply with compliance requirements.

Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings.  Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent Minimum experience required: 15+ Years of progressive experience in capital markets, structured finance, or equipment leasing, with a demonstrated track record of leadership and business development.Deep expertise in lease syndications, investor distribution, and complex transaction structuring.Strong network of institutional investor and syndication relationships.Proven ability to lead and scale capital markets teams in a regulated financial institution.Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.Strong knowledge of lease documentation, pricing models, and regulatory capital requirements.
