Sr Director: Patrol COE

The **Senior Director, Ski Patrol Center of Excellence (COE)** will lead this work to support our ski patrols in continuing to deliver at the highest level on safety, training, innovation, and career development across all our mountains. This leader will bring together the skills, passion, and deep experience of our patrol teams to create consistent, high-quality standards and practices that help patrollers and guests experience the very best of what we do. From shaping industry-leading training to building future career paths, this role is about setting and delivering the gold standard—for our company, our people, and the ski industry. **Job Responsibilities:** + **Build a First-of-Its-Kind Team:** Create a central team that leads with purpose and continues to elevate performance across the mountains. + **Further Elevate Safety and Innovation:** Harness the incredible safety know-how and innovative ideas within our patrols to continuously improve how we operate. + **Lead the Vision:** Shape and execute a clear strategy for the COE—defining priorities, setting goals, and rolling out improvements that have impact across diverse mountains and teams. + **Invest in the Future:** Build and grow the resources and systems needed for long-term success—like training and development tools, and scalable processes. + **Own the Results:** Track progress, celebrate wins, and jump in where needed to ensure every initiative makes a difference. + **Celebrate Culture and Community:** Further strengthen the pride, purpose, and connection that make ski patrol such a special calling—across all our mountains. + **Partner and Collaborate:** Work with patrol leaders, resort leadership, and other central teams to deliver best practices at scale and drive continuous improvement across the board. + **Listen and Act:** Engage stakeholders for feedback ensuring voices at multiple levels are incorporated, turning insights into impact and engagement. + **Pilot New Ideas:** Pilot and scale new approaches across safety, innovation, and best practices that help our patrol teams be even more effective and impactful. **Job Requirements:** _Knowledge & Skills_ + Deep experience in, and appreciation for, patrolling, the ski industry, and mountain culture. + Enthusiasm and passion for driving culture and innovative capabilities that maintain Vail Resorts ski patrols as the largest and best collective professional ski patrol in the world. + Strong communicator and leader, able to connect with everyone from frontline team members to senior leaders both in the field and centrally. + Proven ability to lead, align teams, and build energy and trust across a large organization. + Deep understanding of how resorts operate and how to lead and implement programs across multiple locations. + A leader who can both drive results and inspire people. + Strong business storytelling skills and complex stakeholder management capabilities. _Experience_ + 10+ years Ski Patrol experience required, or equivalent mountain operations, or leadership in industries with equivalent skill (first responder operations, military). + A history of driving safety, innovation, quality, and efficiency across large, dispersed teams. + Success in building culture and aligning performance standards across multiple teams or locations. + Strategic planning and execution experience translating local wins into scaled programs to benefit multiple resorts. + Comfortable working in a matrixed structure and managing multiple stakeholders. The expected Total Compensation for this role is $116,041 - $156,918 + annual bonus + equity.
