Here, you will make an impact by: + Design of feedblocks, dies and other miscellaneous melt processing equipment from initial concept through plant commissioning working closely with product teams, fabrication, process engineers and plant personnel + Provide specialized equipment to support the development of new film products + Develop and deploy new technologies to advance film manufacturing capabilities + Manage project schedules and budgets + Assist in troubleshooting and support of existing manufacturing infrastructure + Provide leadership and mentoring to our lab design team Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: + Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution + Minimum of five (5) years of experience in design of process related capital equipment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: + Bachelor’s degree w/ 10+ yrs of experience or master’s degree in mechanical engineering + Proficient with NX (Unigraphics) CAD modeling software + Experience with ANSYS software and application of finite element modeling techniques to solve structural, thermal and computational fluid dynamic problems + Understanding of polymer film manufacturing processes and equipment + Experience with start-up, troubleshooting and commissioning of capital manufacturing equipment + Management and execution of multiple projects in parallel + Ability to work independently or as part of larger cross functional team + Strong verbal and written communication skills Work location: + Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Center (Maplewood, MN) at least [3] days per week) Travel: May include up to 10% (domestic) Relocation Assistance: May be authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
