This position is responsible for analyzing and applying complex regulatory and compliance requirements to Thrivent’s business practices and for ensuring appropriate regulatory processes and controls are established and are working effectively. The position interprets detailed and often complex regulatory requirements, necessitating practical and conceptual subject matter expertise. Provides polished and clear consult and advice in a manner that helps business partners understand and mitigate risk. This position handles complex work and takes a lead in producing documentation to support regulatory investigations or audits. This position serves a dual role supporting two key Thrivent compliance programs: The Vulnerable Adult Office and the Member Dispute Resolution Program (MDRP). As a Vulnerable Adult Investigator, you are responsible for conducting thorough investigations into allegations of or suspected abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation involving seniors and adults with disabilities. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations, including the Elder Justice Act and Adult Protective Services statutes. Key duties include interviewing involved parties, analyzing financial and medical records, coaching financial advisors, and reporting to social service agencies, law enforcement or other government agencies. The analysis also serves as a facilitator for Thrivent’s Member Dispute Resolution Program, ensuring member appeals are heard in a fair, timely, and confidential manner. This position requires strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with a commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and supporting member trust. Job Duties and Responsibilities + Gathers and synthesizes information from multiple sources in a meaningful manner. + Conducts research using regulatory websites, legal research tools, or using industry resources. + Applies knowledge to business practice, communications, or procedures to draw conclusions and to recommend appropriate action. + Clearly and succinctly communicates findings to business partners, representatives, and management, in manner that helps stakeholders understand the regulatory requirements and related risk. + Partners with key stakeholders in a collaborative manner. + Identifies and takes action to correct compliance deficiencies. + Provides compliance/regulatory consult on complex compliance matters. + Performs testing and monitoring functions. + Represents the interests of unit on cross-organizational initiatives and leads in-unit projects; Leads/supports key regulatory/compliance initiatives within the unit, division and corporate projects + Regularly interacts with regulators/auditors. + Develops, maintains, and implements policies and procedures. + Models Thrivent’s leadership competencies – courage, collaboration, and commitment by demonstrating resiliency, working together to make the best decisions, and holding yourself and others accountable. ​ + Supports and/or develops an environment in which Thrivent employees and colleagues are focused on continuous improvement, exceptional employee engagement, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. Member Dispute Resolution Program Responsibilities: + Enhances and protects the organization's reputation as a facilitator of the enterprise-wide Member Dispute Resolution Program (MDRP), consistent with section 11 of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans' bylaws. + Serves as the liaison between the organization and MDRP claimants to disperse claimants' anger and encourage utilization of the program. + Independently carries out the Appeal phase. Collaborates with Law on Mediation and Arbitration cases. + Supports maintenance of the program’s policies, procedures, brochures, forms, web content, board reporting, panel member training, administrative systems and record retention. + Develops and fosters positive working relations with Thrivent counsel and paralegals (who lead the MDRP Mediation and Arbitration phases), leaders in business areas, and vendors providing services to the program. Vulnerable Adult Program Responsibilities: + Responsible for end-to-end case management, investigation and reporting. Cases may involve suspected or actual vulnerable adult concerns related to financial or physical abuse or neglect of Thrivent clients. Cases are often referred to the unit by Financial Representatives, Thrivent staff, and via other sources. + Coordinates and partners with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Privacy office, AML office, SIU, Legal, Financial Representatives, Operations, various government agencies, impacted clients, POAs, guardians, etc.). + Coaches Financial Representatives, interaction center staff and involved business areas regarding appropriate vulnerable adult situation identification and handling. Identifies training needs, works to develop training, and/or related communications. + Gathers, synthesizes and takes appropriate action in response to complex, and sometimes conflicting, regulatory requirements and information from a variety of sources (i.e. state Insurance Departments, state Health and Human Services/Social Services departments, FINRA, etc.). Proactively monitors for new regulatory requirements. + Conducts timely state and regulatory filings and represents Thrivent when working with external parties, including government agencies and trade groups. + Timely articulates and communicates information to key case stakeholders while recognizing and applying appropriate confidentiality standards. + Ensures sufficiently robust electronic case documentation and record retention. Required Job Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree or significantly relevant and substantial work experience. + 3-10 years of directly related experience. + In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices related to these disciplines. + For Insurance Compliance Unit: 6, 63, and 26 required or obtained within 90 days of hire/transfer. + Experience in investigations within a regulatory compliance environment. + Prior dispute resolution experience. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $79,938.00 - $108,152.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
