Respond to complex billing and collection cases and apply correct actions.Manage patient payments, including processing credit card transactions.Run patient statement and routinely screen patient for financial assistance programs.Represent the unit with limited authority regarding general administrative and operational matters on an as-needed basis.Handle patient billing inquiries via phone, providing courteous and knowledgeable assistance.Assist with UMHS transfers and coordinate collection activities for outstanding accounts. Sort team mail and route correspondence as needed.Assist in the development of unit policies and procedures including identification and testing of potential billing solutions.Once your training is complete, you will assist in training new team members. Required Qualifications*High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experienceProficiency in use of computers and software, including Microsoft office (Excel), products and email/calendar programs. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple items at a time. Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, Federal, State, and local requirements and JCAHO standards. Ability to respect and protect confidential information, work in a team environment, build positive working relationships with other staff and faculty, and work independently.Desired Qualifications*Knowledge of University Health System policies, procedures, and regulations. Experience with University systems including MiChart/Epic, Outlook and Caretend, as well as CHAMPS, Availity and other payer websites. DME/Home Infusion billing experience within the last 5 years. Complete understanding of coordination of benefits Experience with documenting audits for code appropriateness.Ability to stay abreast of federal coding requirements and guidelines. Work Schedule100% onsite 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
