The Customs Compliance Analyst is responsible for managing the corporate compliance audit program to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations covered by Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations (US – "19 CFR") and Customs Act (Canada) as well as corporate compliance policies, procedures and internal controls. The Analyst will verify the effectiveness of customs compliance
processes by performing compliance testing of all import and export activity conducted by the Company, analyzing and reporting to management the company's compliance rating, identifying areas of non-compliance and implementing corrective action. Analyst may also work with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulatory audit division and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and perform necessary research on laws and regulations covered by 19 CFR and the Customs Act.
What You Will Do
• Conduct comprehensive compliance testing to ensure that transactions are accurate with regards to tariff classification, quantity, value, origin determination and marking. Conducts specialized entry
review on established risk areas
• Determine compliance based on established measurements, issuing compliance reports to management and implementing resolutions to improve compliance efforts
• Analyze financial impact of classification changes and coordinates corrective action with the Broker to tender or recover monies as warranted
• Review product for applicability of antidumping/countervailing orders, and assignment of correct case numbers and case rates
• Manage the post entry correction process as warranted with customs broker and track resolution. Files Protests with Customs as warranted and tracks resolution
• Assist in the education and training of internal business partners on customs compliance
• Maintain Compliance manual in concert with established internal controls
Required Qualifications
• 3 years' experience working with highly confidential information
• 3 years' experience in project management
• Previous experience in a position requiring high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and follow through
• Previous experience in a position utilizing MS office software
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Tariff classification and duty preference programs or equivalent experience
• 10 years experience in audit related field, prefer at least 5 years of import and customs experience
• Broker License
