Sr Advisor Fixed Assets

Your focus in this role is providing timely and accurate reporting of the Company’s Capital Assets transactions and continuous improvements of these processes.
 

While in this role you will support business requirements while enforcing policies in addition to collaborating with our TIS and Unify teams to implement resource plans for future releases and coordinate system improvements.

What you will do:

Support the FA team during month end close activities including Unitizations, Asset Retirement Obligations, Retirements, Depreciation, etc.

Able to work well under tight deadlines.

Prepare and/or review financial information and reports for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the output.

Assist with review monthly account reconciliations.

Provide support to various OEB and regulatory requests and filings including assisting in rate rebasing requests.

Review the current FA subledger setup and work on process improvements.

Support Unify for the conversation of the current GDS accounting systems (Oracle R12, SAP, and Power plan).

Coordinate with other departments regarding month-end close, special projects/requests, and lead all aspects of issue resolution.

Support key SOX controls and Audit requirements.

Analyze and solve sophisticated problems. Makes recommendations to management for continuous improvement in accounting and business processes and procedures.

Special projects and ad hoc requests.
 

Who you are:

You have:

CPA with a minimum of 6+ years directly related experience.

University degree in business, commerce, or related field.

Outstanding interpersonal skills combined with a results-oriented mentality while being able to share knowledge, experience, and training with all team members in a non-biased manner.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and system knowledge using querying tools and pivot tables.

Good working knowledge of SAP and/or Oracle preferred.

Experience working within a regulatory environment preferred.

Show a solid understanding of accounting principles, related systems, processes, and company structure.

Independently assess, exercise good judgement, and accurately resolve sophisticated issues encountered in the performance of job duties. 

You are:

Able to complete complicated, non-routine assignments.

Proactive and skilled at anticipating problems before they arise and implementing mitigations.

An excellent written and verbal communicator with an ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and organized manner.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
