Expected Projects
The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System’s (Board’s) Office of Inspector General conducts audits and evaluations of the Board and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB’s) programs and operations to assess and promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in these programs and operations while helping to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse. The IT Operations Intern will learn to perform daily IT operational tasks, assist with daily OIG IT environment efforts, and assist with documentation.
Assist in creating custom lists, features, web parts, event handlers, and workflows.Assist with inventory management.Learn and assist users with various needs, OS to general hardware support.Active contributor in policy and other support documentation generation.Participates in team meetings.Suggested Major(s)/Minor(s): Computer science, information technology, software programming, information security, or related fields, either graduate or undergraduate

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System's Office of Inspector General (OIG) conducts investigations of the Board and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB’s) programs and operations to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse. The Investigative Intern will assist in conducting investigations of the Board and CFPB’s various programs and operations. For example, the OIG conducts investigations of employee misconduct or financial fraud associated with the supervision and examination responsibilities of the Board.
Assists as a team member on investigations or other reviews.May support the team in conducting its planning activities for the applicable review to establish the appropriate objectives, scope and methodology, which is a key preliminary step in our reviews.May interface with other Board division representatives, Reserve Bank officials, or CFPB officials while executing roles and responsibilities.Assists in data gathering and analysis.Assists in preparing workpapers in support of team's reports. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System’s (Board’s) Office of Inspector General conducts audits and evaluations of the Board and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB’s) programs and operations to assess and promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in these programs and operations while helping to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse. The Data Analytics (DA) section uses various software tools, such as ACL, Monarch, Tableau, Python, and R, to perform detailed analyses of Board and CFPB databases that support OIG audits and investigations and the DA section’s forensic evaluations and risk assessments of Board and CFPB programs and operations. The Data Analytics Intern will assist DA teams in providing support to OIG audits and investigations and in conducting forensic evaluations and risk assessments of Board and CFPB programs and operations.

Assists in developing and/or modifying methods to ensure thorough and accurate data analysis is performed.Assists in preparing workpapers in support of the team’s reports/memorandums that are timely, well written, complete, and supportive of data analysis performed.May assist in developing applications and automated queries to analyze and evaluate data to determine patterns, trends, recurring events, control weaknesses, and anomalies in support of audits, evaluations, investigations, and other reviews.Participates in message development presentations to senior management. There are three audit intern positions available in the following sections:
Supervision Regulation (SR), which conducts reviews of the Board’s and CFPB’s financial institution oversight programs.Management Operations (MO), which oversees the operational components of the Board and the CFPB, including divisions that are responsible for human capital; personnel security; records management; data governance; economic research (Board), and Board member support (Board).Financial Management/Internal Controls (FMIC), which conducts performance audits and evaluations in areas such as procurement, facilities, payment systems, consumer affairs, and Reserve Bank oversight.Find out more about the OIG
