These opportunities are within the Global Joint Reconstruction organization, based in Warsaw, IN, USA! Johnson & Johnson MedTech Orthopaedics is part of the largest, most innovative and comprehensive health care business in the world! The J&J Joint Reconstruction business designs, develops, and manufactures innovative, world class, market-leading total joint replacement medical device implants and instruments that address the needs of the orthopaedic surgeons and patients throughout the world. **Key Responsibilities** Research & Development (R&D) encompasses the development of advanced materials, process improvements, risk management, mechanical testing and more through the new product development process. We offer a fast-paced, technologically advanced, corporate environment, passionate about developing individual engineering and scientific skills. You will have the opportunity to learn about anatomy, disease states, deformities and the surgical procedure/products used to address these conditions, as well as observe world class operations in a Johnson & Johnson manufacturing facility and take advantage of on-site training courses. Under direct supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Johnson & Johnson Corporate procedures and guidelines, this position includes responsibilities such as: + Learn and apply analysis and design tools, rapid prototyping technologies, industry-leading testing equipment and methodologies, related anatomy, pathologies, and surgical procedures in the design and development of new products. + Work with cross-functional product development teams and alongside experienced engineers on development activities related to complex orthopaedic implants and instrumentation. + Contribute to design solutions and the advancement of new product development projects or improvement of existing products or processes. + Participate in all aspects of the design control process including the identification of patient and regulatory needs, assessments of design specifications, identifying and controlling of risks, and creation and documentation of design outputs when products require additional functional or mechanical testing. + Assist in the development and execution of verification/validation plans, which may include designing test fixtures and prototypes, writing test protocols and reports, as well as performing testing, experimentation, and validation to support product development. Note: this may include evaluation in a human cadaver. + Learn and use Siemens NX 3D CAD software to produce models and drawings. + Support product development by regularly collaborating with members of R&D, Prototype Manufacturing, Mechanical Testing, and Design Quality. **Qualifications** Education: + Candidate must be enrolled (not necessarily taking classes) in an accredited college/university during the Spring (January - May), Summer (May/June - August) or Fall (August - December) 2026 Co-Op session. + Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Science. Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, are preferred academic majors. + Only students that have completed at least their first year of college by the start of their first work rotation will be considered. **Experience and Skills** Required: + Demonstrates an understanding of basic engineering and scientific principles. “Hands-on” engineering student with the ability to think creatively. + Identifies and communicates basic problems and issues in a timely manner, as well as implements solutions to problems. + Highly motivated and can work independently on one or multiple projects under general direction and can exhibit an attention to detail. + Prioritization and time management. + Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including experience presenting in front of multidisciplinary audiences and attending virtual and face-to-face team meetings. Preferred: + A minimum GPA of 3.0. + Experience with 3D modeling. + Proven leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities. **Additional Information** This position is located in Warsaw, Indiana.
