Sports Content Producer
Nexstar Media Group
Nexstar Media Group is seeking a creative journalist to lead the development of innovative sports content across its local station group. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of sports content at one of the largest media groups in the U.S. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking corporate team, creating content that reaches audiences across the group and drives engagement on all platforms. This is not a traditional sports reporting or producing role – if your focus is reading highlights and covering games, this position is not for you. We’re looking for a self-starting content creator who can produce compelling video segments for all platforms including broadcast specials, connected TV (CTV) and digital platforms, with a focus on original, news-generating sports content.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Contribute to major company initiatives including the Super Bowl, Olympics, College Football and Basketball, NASCAR, PGA Golf, and other marquee events.
+ Produce broadcast special programs on athletes, teams, and major events.
+ Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders within Nexstar’s local sports teams to scale coverage opportunities.
+ Coordinate with local stations to leverage resources and talent for content creation.
+ Pitch and produce sales-integrated programming to support local market revenue goals.
+ Plan and execute daily live video programming, including coverage of breaking sports news.
+ Independently host, switch, edit, and upload daily and special project video content using OBS.
+ Set up interviews, gather b-roll and visual elements, and prepare rundowns or scripts as needed.
Skill/Experience Requirements:
+ 5–7 years of experience in video production, including extensive on-camera work and technical problem-solving.
+ Experience using OBS or similar streaming software is a plus.
+ Strong understanding of current sports newsmakers and issues.
+ Solid foundation in journalism ethics, including copyright and attribution.
+ Demonstrated ability to identify and capture audience opportunities in sports content development (non-highlights) and streaming format.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
+ Experience working cross-functionally and influencing across diverse teams and markets.
+ Must be located in or willing to relocate to a Nexstar market with a local newsroom that supports all dayparts.
+ Physical presence in a Nexstar facility is required to perform this role.
