Coordinates services with other health professionals,

May assist in the training and supervision of students,

Section III Job Qualifications Education Training Certification Licensure

Comments

Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology,

Completion of the national examination if beginning Clinical Fellowship Year affiliation,

Evidence of continuing education is necessary to meet licensing requirements,

Student clinical experience in pediatrics rehabilitation experience desirable,

Thorough knowledge of the theoretical principles and clinical application employed in the diagnosis and management of various communication and swallowing disorders,

Knowledge of typical development is desirable,

Tact, initiative and judgment in the performance of duties,

Member of ASHA required,

Bilingual SLPs must be able to independently provide comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders using the client s patient s language and preferred mode of communication,

They must also have the linguistic proficiency to Describe the process of normal speech and language acquisition mdash for both bilingual and monolingual speakers of that language, including how those processes are manifested in oral and written language or manually coded languages when applicable Select, administer, and interpret formal and informal assessment procedures to distinguish between communication differences and communication disorders Apply intervention strategies for treatment of communication disorders in the language or mode of communication most appropriate for the needs of the individual,

NJ State Speech Language Pathology License or eligible,

Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech Language Hearing Association or eligible,

Clinical Fellows welcome to apply,

American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification required,
