Schedule: Per diem day shifts with every other weekend rotation
Location: Silver Spring, MD

**Description:**
Responsible for assessing and treating patients referred for speech language, hearing and swallowing disorders in an effective and professional manner while adhering to Maryland State law and the American Speech and Hearing Association Code of Ethics. Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals, staff and families to ensure quality of care. Therapists provide assessment and care for patients of all ages from neonates through the geriatric patients. Additional training may be required to work with special programs, procedures or specified groups of patients as determined by department guidelines and best practice.

**Responsibilities:**
Direct Patient Care:
+ Evaluates patients utilizing standardized assessments and observations to determine functional status
+ Develops and implements an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation findings
+ Modify/update the plan of care based on clinical findings/identified needs
+ Educate patient, family and caregivers in accordance with the plan of care
+ Participate in the development of a discharge plan with the patient/family/caregiver and interdisciplinary team
+ Demonstrate awareness of a patient’s individual physical, emotional and medical needs
+ Applies the principles of growth and development over the life span and considers age specific, gender specific and cultural needs of the patient
+ Treat in accordance with professional and departmental guidelines
Documentation:
+ Maintain appropriate documentation for each evaluation and treatment session that complies with professional, hospital and departmental guidelines
+ Accurately records patient charges in accordance with department guidelines
+ Fulfill education and training requirements to allow access to the hospital’s Electronic Medical Record
Communication:
+ Maintain polite and appropriate communication with patients, visitors, and colleagues
+ Respond to departmental communications (ie: phone calls, emails) in a timely manner
+ Report safety concerns in a timely manner
+ Remain appraised of hospital-wide and departmental information/expectations
+ Communicate schedule availability to department leadership
Professional Responsibilities:
+ Complete necessary continuing education to meet license renewal requirements
+ Adhere departmental and organizational Policies and Procedures
**What you will need:**
+ Graduate of an accredited school with a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
+ Holds ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
+ Current Maryland license to practice Speech-Language Pathology
+ Experience in acute care or rehabilitation setting with an emphasis on adult neurogenic disorders, dysphagia and cognitive-communication impairments preferred
+ CPR certified withing probationary period
+ Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language
**Pay Range: $46.00 - $50.65**
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
