This is a PRN Position.

Job Summary 

The Speech Pathologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in patients across the lifespan. This role develops individualized plans of care, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and provides evidence-based interventions to support functional outcomes. The Speech Pathologist adheres to ethical standards and regulatory requirements while promoting patient safety, autonomy, and communication effectiveness. 

Essential Functions

Conducts comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations, including Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies when indicated. Develops and implements individualized treatment plans to address communication and swallowing needs based on clinical findings, patient goals, and interdisciplinary input. Provides education and training to patients, families, and caregivers to support carryover of therapy goals and improve functional outcomes. Collaborates with physicians, radiology staff, therapists, and care teams to support coordinated, patient-centered care and appropriate discharge planning. Maintains accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment sessions, progress, and outcomes in the electronic medical record according to organizational and regulatory standards. Participates in performance improvement, clinical education, and program development initiatives within the department. Demonstrates professional communication and ethical practice in accordance with American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) guidelines and state licensure requirements. Ensures the proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment and therapy materials. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program required 1-2 years of clinical experience in speech-language pathology preferred Experience in acute care or outpatient rehabilitation settings preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficient in evaluating and treating a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders. Skilled in completing Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and interpreting results. Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Knowledge of documentation standards and EMR systems. Understanding of ethical practice standards and regulatory compliance in healthcare.

Licenses and Certifications

ST - Speech Therapist current license in state of employment required or Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA required or in Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) under supervision required BCLS - Basic Life Support required
