Job Description
This role involves clinical specimen accessioning, which includes sorting samples such as blood, plasma, urine, and other bodily fluids. You will be responsible for entering patient information into the system, preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, and unpacking and routing specimens to staging areas. Additionally, you will identify and label specimens, pack and ship them to testing facilities, and manage the storage of excess samples.
ResponsibilitiesAccession clinical specimens accurately and efficiently.Sort and prepare samples for laboratory analysis and testing.Enter patient information into data systems with precision.Unpack and route specimens to appropriate staging areas.Identify and label specimens correctly.Pack and ship specimens to designated testing facilities.Prepare and store excess specimen samples securely.Essential SkillsProficiency in specimen collection and processing.Strong data entry skills.Ability to label and manage inventory effectively.Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.Understanding of laboratory testing processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.1-2 years of relevant experience preferred, though not required.Previous experience in a medical or production environment is a plus.Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM, or until all samples are completed. Employees are entitled to a 30-minute break at 6:30 PM for lunch. The dress code includes solid colored scrubs or jeans, a plain t-shirt, comfortable closed-toed shoes, and a mask. A lab coat will be provided.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.50/hr.
