Job Title: Specimen Accessioner

Job Description

The Specimen Accessioner is responsible for clinical specimen accessioning, which includes sorting various samples such as blood, plasma, urine, and other bodily fluids. This role involves data entry of patient information and the preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing. Additionally, the Specimen Accessioner will unpack and route specimens to staging areas, identify and label specimens, pack and ship specimens to testing facilities, and prepare and store excess specimen samples.

ResponsibilitiesPerform clinical specimen accessioning and sample sorting.Enter patient information accurately into the system.Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.Unpack and route specimens to designated staging areas.Identify and label specimens correctly.Pack and ship specimens to appropriate testing facilities.Prepare and store excess specimen samples for future use.Essential SkillsProficiency in specimen collection and processing.Strong data entry skills.Ability to correctly label and sort samples.Competence in shipping and receiving procedures.Knowledge of laboratory testing processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required.1-2 years of relevant experience preferred but not required.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Comfortable standing on your feet throughout the shift. Production experience is a plus.Work Environment

The work environment consists of Monday through Friday hours, from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM, or until samples are completed. A 30-minute break is provided at 6:30 PM for lunch. The dress code includes solid-colored scrubs or jeans, a plain t-shirt, comfortable closed-toed shoes, and a mask, with a lab coat provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.50/hr.
