As a Specialist - Technology Support Services is a highly technical mixed role, providing advisory services for the operation and design of the growth of the customer´s core network infrastructure remote and on-site support in the US, Latam and Caribbean region. This is a hybrid on-site and remote position and may require additional work hours and on-call support for critical issues.
Responsibilities:
The Network Engineer / Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed within the customer's network.
To hold network information gathering workshops with the customer to understand their existing network design and technical requirements for new network deployments. To understand the customer’s organizational structure, become familiar with customer's network implementation and support procedures, and help drive to the highest level of network availability and sustainability. To carry out testing of new designs, features, and functionality as required by the customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop implementation plans to ensure proper operation in a live production network. Validate patches and fixes to operating software that ensure they are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test network and live network. Troubleshoot equipment and network problems, initiate and track technical support cases through to problem resolution on pre- and post-production issues. Analyze network performance in terms of tickets, root causes, common causes, correlation and trends. Network inventory and respective SW versions in terms of EoE (end of engineering). Analysis of technical bulletins and risks in the client's installed base. To produce a written summary report of the status of Design projects, equipment, and network problems on a regular basis to the customer. To hold technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried. To train the customer’s design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate the Core Networks products. To assist the customer with the development and documentation of Network Operation Procedures. Support production environment of core network products within the customer infrastructure. Support ongoing efforts in defining best practice policies for core network product applications used by the customerThe Network Engineer is expected to peer with other subject matter experts from vendors performing similar network engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize the risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.
The Network Engineer will be expected to develop secondary skills in other products portfolio to complete design of solutions based on RFPs for strategic or large projects
Qualifications And Experience
Engineering or equivalent Graduates with 10+ years of relevant work experience Ability to speak and write in English and Spanish fluently Candidates for this role MUST be able to demonstrate the following competencies: Strong Interpersonal skills, Presentation skills, Ability to work well with many levels of customer engineering and management, Ability to work well with the sales organization assigned to the customer and all internal Technical organization within the company. The ability to function in a team environment and recognize and take on tasks with self-direction as well as the ability to take direction from the customer and account team. The ability to communicate well within the Wesco-Anixter team and articulate customer problems before they become major issues; provide proactive visibility to customer & Account team. Ability to control and manage your activities yourself, as well as produce detailed and/or executive reports of the activities and projects under your responsibility, both internal and external. 7+ years of experience providing implementation and technical support of networking products in LAN, WAN, or Internet services environments. 7+ years’ experience in managing large technical account activity revolving around network products from multiple vendors. Work experience working with Service Providers in the Telco Industry environment Experience in fault isolation logic and techniques Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of IP Routers Switches and Firewalls. This includes the hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers. Detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP networks. These skills should generally include: TCP/IP fundamentals, IP subnetting and super netting and hierarchical routing principles, Routing protocol operation (OSPF and BGP), Routing policies at BGP peering points, VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (L2TP, MPLS, etc.) Switching, spanning tree and other switching technology as required, Firewalls and associated technologies as required Experience, background and knowledge on IPv6, Multicast, PIM and L3VPNs Experience, background and knowledge on EVPN, Segment Routing and Security JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE or other vendor equivalent expert level certifications are required.
