Specialist Product Manager

Job Summary:

Responsible for executing the strategy of the product umbrella as outlined by the Lead Product Manager, Product Executive and Head of Product Management for the business unit. Responsible for Product Management Lifecycle activities such as defining the target client segment market and evaluating industry trends and uncovering opportunities. The specialist product manager will also perform launches and post launch assessments/ recommendations.

Major Duties:

Focused work with and support of Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (“OCIO”) firms and their underlying Northern Trust (“NT”) custody clients, both of whom are separately supported by NT client service staffInclusive of work in support of OCIOs functioning both as Asset Owner and Asset ManagerConsultation with OCIOs/underlying clients to analyze and determine operational, digital, data and technology requirements as pursuant to NT capabilities/offeringsCreation/execution of NT operational, digital, data and technology support model for OCIO firms and underlying clients on a bespoke basis (as needed and inclusive of any technology or digital solution development and ongoing support/maintenance)Given possible dual functionality of OCIOs as asset owner/manager, breadth of work inclusive of both inbound and outbound data deliverables and receivablesLead initiatives relating to OCIO segment, evaluation of market trends and uncovering opportunitiesProvide presentational, operational, digital, data and technology support during sales, client, OCIO and prospect meetingsAuditing, tracking, creation of metrics/trend analysis around the support provided and needed pursuant to the OCIO segment at Permanent engagement as part of NT service team(s) for OCIOs and clientsHold/partake in regular in-personal and virtual meetings with OCIOs, clients and internal partners to discuss current status(es), opportunities and service model roadmap, vision and plans (based off current NT capabilities and future plans/capabilities)Serves as product, capability and implementation liaison between the OCIOs, clients and NT Product and related partnersProject tracking and reporting pursuant to all current development or project initiativesIn person visits for meetings, training and discussion for new firms or their related partners; appropriate Dynamics call and related reporting pursuant to meetings and ongoing initiativesCustom solution creation and support across divergent NT digital/reporting media (includes Excel, Power BI, machine readable formats) with documentation of procedures and details needed to create and support and repetitive digital deliverablesCognizance and dissemination of information around new and existing bank products, services and capabilities in support of the related OCIO and client needs/requirements


Knowledge:

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Proficient in constructing/overseeing logical and conclusive presentations, distilling complex subject matter into internal (incl management) and externally friendly materialsSeasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertiseThorough understanding or knowledge of all products or business areas within an umbrella roadmap, mastery of 2-4+ and SME ability in at least 1-2+ specific areas; and a strong understanding of client needs and how this impacts the product development agenda/roadmapUnderstanding of market standards in support of asset managers (i.e. trade and reconciliation support, SWIFT, ISO20022)Excellent in building key relationships, influencing and negotiating with clients, partners and leaders across multiple disciplinesProgram or project management experience is advantageous including planning, analysis, design and governanceStrong knowledge of business strategy development is necessary to provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment.Leadership and organizational skills are required to determine the Business Unit's goals, resources needed, and to assess and develop the skills of staffHighly flexible and adaptable to changeTechnical skills/systems knowledge required, incl custodian/financial service online/digital technology and systems


Experience:

College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience of 6-8 years required

Salary Range:

$137,400 - 233,600 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
