Position Description
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Opportunity for a self-starter who enjoys working independently and being part of a valuable team that is fast-paced and streamlined to address business growth, daily business operations, and environmental issues. Candidate will provide air quality compliance, permitting and technical support to Kinder Morgan’s world class terminals and pipeline facilities.
Responsibilities Include:
+ Provide air permitting support to business development, commercial and project management groups by evaluating and executing project permitting strategies and managing permit applications.
+ Manage and make all applicable agency notifications such as for scheduled tank inspections— reviewing reports and filing the necessary documentation.
+ Coordinate with and assist assigned facilities with air monitoring and maintenance requirements in accordance with applicable regulations.
+ Update monthly emission data for responsible facilities in KM’s emissions tracking system by collecting required operation data and records and performing emission calculations.
+ Complete and submit compliance and emissions reports in accordance with air permit requirements and local and federal regulations.
+ Support and maintain day-to-day compliance for assigned area/facilities; responsibilities include but not limited to:
+ Complete all assigned compliance tasks on time.
+ Respond to inquiries from state and federal agencies.
+ Review and analyze results of testing and monitoring data.
+ Maintain files in accordance with recordkeeping requirements
+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships with operations, engineering, project management, commercial and business development groups.
+ Assist other air teammates with permit applications and routine compliance tasks as required.
+ Provide support to Company’s emergency response and reporting requirements.
+ Other daily, weekly and monthly duties along with special projects, as assigned.
+ Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
+ Proactively plan, organize and oversee assigned responsibilities.
+ Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of job performance.
+ Monitor schedules, budgets and evaluate the work of third-party air contractors/consultants.
**Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of the successful candidate**
Position Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
BS or BA in Engineering, Physical or Environmental Science, or related field.
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
+ Expertise analyzing and interpreting state and federal air regulations—particularly in mid-Atlantic and southeast U.S. states.
+ Proficient in using standard spreadsheet, word processing, and database software, including Microsoft Office suite. Background and familiarity with AI platforms a plus.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to interact across multiple business units, including, but not limited to: other employees, all levels of management, vendors, agencies, and customers with courtesy and professionalism.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience providing training to field/operations and interacting directly with federal, state, or local officials.
+ Perform multiple tasks with strict and competing deadlines, successfully.
+ Able to work efficiently in a team environment while also being able to work autonomously, as needed, to successfully perform the required and expected duties with minimal direct supervision.
+ Capable of taking directions from supervisors, adhering to required work schedules, focusing attention on details and following work rules.
+ Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Up to 20% travel is required and anticipated.
+ Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.
+ May be required to work non-traditional hours as needed.
+ The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
PREFERRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
+ Experience with emissions and compliance responsibilities for bulk and liquid storage Terminals and pipeline pumping stations being a plus.
+ Experience coordinating air compliance and management programs with operations personnel.
+ Experience with RACT/BACT/LAER, MACT/NESHAP, NSPS, and NSR/PSD.
+ Experience with CEMS and LDAR.
+ Experience with emissions calculations using AP-42 methodology.
+ ESG experience related to air emissions (Criteria Air Pollutants and GHG) is a plus.
+ Record of successfully conducting regulatory analyses and developing cost effective implementation strategies for air quality matters at liquid products storage facilities.
+ Experience with environmental due diligence.
+ Experience implementing and/or using Maximo or other Environmental Management Information Systems.
+ Strong diagnostic skills and logical thought processes with the ability to identify and resolve data acquisition issues is a plus.
+ Experience with project and financial budget development and implementation.
+ Professional Engineer certification is a plus.
