Role Purpose

 

As Messaging solutions expert for selected Messaging environments, you will work with the architects to generate domain-level design and requirement specifications that can be used to turn proof-of-concepts into customer quality software products leading to the development of Messaging projects.  As such, this is a critical role in terms of customer perception and will directly impact the success/reputation of Vodafone’s Messaging product offering and its ability to achieve the forecasted revenue targets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Messaging Solution Design & ImplementationCollaborate with solution architects to define technical architecture for Messaging platforms.Convert high-level requirements and proof-of-concepts into scalable, production-grade solutions.Write and maintain technical documentation and specifications.2. Project & Program ManagementLead or support the delivery of strategic projects in centralized messaging infrastructure.Coordinate activities across vendors, internal stakeholders, and regional operating companies.Present project status, risks, and outcomes to senior management and governance bodies.3. Technology Evolution & InnovationDrive modernization of platforms through NFV, containerization, and cloud-native technologies.Track and evaluate emerging technologies and propose enhancements for performance, cost, and scalability.Contribute to harmonization and hosting initiatives across the European region.4. Release Management & Quality AssuranceEnsure end-to-end testing and certification of new software/hardware releases.Manage software upgrades, integration, and acceptance processes in collaboration with vendors.Guarantee quality in delivery and alignment with Vodafone standards.5. Operations & SupportProvide second-line support for business-as-usual operations.Lead technical troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvements.Implement task automation to streamline recurring processes.6. Stakeholder CollaborationAct as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders (Marketing, Security, Architecture).Ensure Messaging solutions meet commercial needs and comply with regulatory/security requirements.Support centralized platforms like VCS Hub, SMS Firewall, MMS simplification.

 

 

What you bring

 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related technical field.Minimum 5 years’ experience in Messaging platforms or Core/VAS services in telecom environments.Strong expertise in protocols such as SS7/SIGTRAN, SMPP, Diameter, SIP, RTP.Proven experience with VMware, OpenStack, NFV, and container-based platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Solid understanding of IMS architecture and Core Network technologies.Experience in HW/SW integration, testing, and release management.Fluent in English; excellent communication, technical writing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

 

 

Nice to have:

 

Knowledge of DevOps tools and Agile delivery methodologies.Familiarity with Open APIs and Digital Ecosystems integration.Experience in multinational telecom environments.
