Nature & Purpose of Position Performs advanced specialist duties for the School of Nursing. Primary Responsibilities Participates in the nursing academic student recruiting program. Visits high schools, junior/community colleges, organizations, etc. as required, with the primary focus being those schools in the Huntsville/Conroe/Greater Houston regional areas. Communicates via phone call and/or email with prospective students, high school counselors, college and career counselors, and community college advisors. Contacts student organizations to assist in academic recruiting. Assists with the Saturday visitation programs and High School and Community College Counselor Conferences. Assists Academic Advisors with advising enrolled and prospective students regarding the Nursing program and curriculum. Maintains student files updated throughout their academic career and makes changes to records as necessary. Assists with resolving academic issues. Assists with coordinating orientation sessions for groups of incoming new students. Assists with presentations to small or large groups. Analyzes and processes degree plans and degree exceptions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Microsoft Office computer skills required. Regular contact with prospective students, parents, junior/community college officials, and high schools and their officials. May require extensive travel during the fall and spring semesters.
