Guy Carpenter & Company LLC is seeking candidates for the following full-time position based in the New York, NY office (A telecommuting/hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with company policies.):
 

                                                Specialist II - Specialties Broking

We will count on you to:

Design new reinsurance programs for US Marine and Energy clients’ needs, placing business with client-approved reinsurers. Manage the preparation and presentation of research, risk analysis, client and reinsurer presentations, the preparation and execution of formal documentation, and manage all related accounting, claims and contract issues. Prepare budget and revenue projections. Develop and present new and renewal presentations to US Marine & Energy clients, and to reinsurers. Design programs for new clients, meeting with them to establish and grow relationships with them. Respond to client queries and concerns in a timely manner, resolving any issues which may arise, coordinating with other departments as necessary. Respond to client requests for information (reinsurers’ financial reports, industry issues, etc.) coordinating with other departments as necessary. Manage US Marine and Energy Facultative submissions and placements for various treaty clients and prospects. Monitor and follow-up on contract documentation and accounting (premium payments, collections etc.), liaising with the appropriate service departments to ensure proper levels of service and a timely flow of the business process. Leverage various Guy Carpenter systems and propriety platforms to provide clients, prospects and colleagues with a cohesive experience. Attend key US marine and energy (re)insurance conferences and seminars. Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, reinsurers and colleagues. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reinsurer capabilities (product lines, capacity, approvals, etc). Update management on issues and progress regularly.

What you need to have: 

Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in any field plus nine (9) years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in the position offered or a related position. Must have nine (9) years of reinsurance broking experience with all the following: Placement of reinsurance programs for US client base, including the following lines of business in the sector: Cargo, Hull, Marine Liabilities, War, Inland Marine, and Yacht; Designing programs, pricing, and coverage requirements for specific lines (including but not limited to Cargo, Hull, Marine Liabilities, War, Inland Marine, and Yacht) of Marine & Energy business whether placed individually or on a composite basis; Building and establishing relationships with both carriers and reinsurers specializing in the US marine and energy sector; Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of reinsurer capabilities to determine most appropriate partners for clients; Analyzing portfolio data to determine optimal program design, pricing, and coverage for client portfolio; Designing reinsurance program structures considering the motivations and underlying drivers of how insurance companies in the US purchase reinsurance; Using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to analyze portfolios and create presentations for clients and reinsurers. 30% domestic and international travel is required to various and unanticipated company and client sites and conferences.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $175,000 - $225,000 per year.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
