College or continued education courses in management, public safety, or communications is desirable. Experience in a related field preferred. Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties: Performs duties related to the daily operations of parking enforcement to ensure parking rules and regulatory compliance at Sam Houston State University. Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only): Performs entry-level specialist duties. Oversees student workers in the issuance of citations and arrangement of towing vehicles that are a hazard or in flagrant violation of university parking rules and regulations. Provides information and training on Public Safety staff in parking enforcement procedures as well as enforcement equipment maintenance and use. Prepares, sells and issues permits when needed in the Parking and Transportation Office. Assists in interpreting regulations and making decisions regarding parking violations. Patrols parking areas to ensure vehicles are parking according to rules and regulations. Communicates with the public to explain parking rules and regulations. Assists individuals with directions to campus buildings, resources and roadways. Monitors parking and traffic issuers related to compliance and any faulty or absent traffic control devices. Supervises student workers during shift. Aides motorists in need of assistance. Provides transportation to individuals to obtain vehicles that have been towed. Provides assistance at garage(s) with automated equipment. Prepares written reports as necessary. Provides written and verbal testimony in administrative hearings. Performs other related duties as assigned.
