Roles and Responsibilities
You will:
Assist in the development of new chemical processesWork with researchers to develop test methods and build equipment that can be used for experimentation or perform other various tasks relevant to chemical processes in GE projectsPrepare chemical formulations and carry out straightforward chemical sythesisPerform basic characterization of chemical materials.Identify key technical issues, develop new processes and iteratively improve system performance through experimentation and process optimization with assistance from scientists and engineersIndependently operate various pieces of laboratory equipment, investigate novel material components and integrated material systems and utilize basic analytical methodsBe responsible for the safe and compliant use/operation and disposal of hazardous chemicals and materialsBuild relationships with colleagues at GE Aerospace Research with a wide variety of technical expertise and business responsibilitiesProvide experimental data for IP disclosures and patent application processesBe a member of a multidisciplinary team developing functional material systemsRequired Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline, or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ of hands-on experience in Chemistry or Chemical EngineeringFamiliarity with chemical processing and testing methodsAbility to build and troubleshoot chemical process equipmentDemonstrated ability to learn new areas of researchAbility to work with diverse, high-paced teamsWilling to work government-funded projectsLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
