Position Overview

The Power Construction Services team at Aecon is bringing engaging in large scale engineering, procurement and construction solutions for customers across the USA. The service offering includes high voltage transmission towers, substations, EV charging stations, battery energy storage plants / facilities, power line installations and the integration of these solutions to the overall power grids. The Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for all purchasing related activities of these products and for ensuring the delivery of materials/ services to the site occurs on time, at the right price the first time.
This position acts as a liaison between the project teams from various business units, fellow procurement team members and field workers and must possess strong knowledge of products, procurement policies and procedures relevant to our energy product suite. This person will work with the manufacturers and distributors and estimating teams for the above noted business units to source materials and negotiate best price for total cost of goods at time of tender.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute procurement strategies to secure high-quality materials, equipment, and services for EPC projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and align procurement activities with project timelines. Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers of electrical materials and components. Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure favorable agreements for the company. Ensure timely procurement of products according to project timelines and budget requirements. Develop and manage vendor relationships, ensuring supplier performance meets company and project standards. Prepare purchase orders, contracts, and procurement reports. Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
Required Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years experience in procurement, preferably in the energy sector. Previous experience working on major projects with procurements spend greater than $5M Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to secure advantageous deals with suppliers. Knowledge of sustainable procurement practices and a commitment to environmental responsibility. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (SCMP dedication) is a plus. Self-starter who approaches his/her work with a sense of urgency. Able to handle multiple competing task. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Technical understanding of SAP.
