BASIC FUNCTION:
Support the use of the simulation lab for the College of Nursing. Provide faculty and student support with skills and simulation activities for our Kingston and as needed, Providence location.
Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a resource to simulation lab participants as an onsite, fully certified healthcare professional.
Orient Faculty and students to the skills and simulation lab.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop policies and procedures for use of lab space and equipment.
Assist or lead open skills lab, skills remediation, and/or simulation sessions as needed.
Prepare setups for planned learning activities and support faculty in development of simulation scenarios.
Keep current on simulation related policies and practices.
Oversee the general cleanliness, safety, and/or organization of the laboratory and promote safe lab practices.
Collaborate with IT support regarding the status of lab and simulation equipment.
Assist with scheduling skills and simulation labs, as needed. Initiate work orders.
Attend training and workshops as necessary to maintain current lab and simulation technology.
Train and supervise undergraduate student workers in the operation and maintenance of lab activities.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as assigned. This role may be required to support some
weekend or evening events.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Required Qualifications REQUIRED:
1. Master’s degree in nursing.
2. Demonstrated experience working with simulation and/or medical equipment.
3. Demonstrated organizational skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
6. Demonstrated proficiency with written communication skills.
7. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED:
1. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist) CHSOS certification.
2. Minimum one year experience working with medical simulation, technologies and applications.
3. Minimum one year experience with computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to medical simulations.
4. Demonstrated experience with medical terminology.
