Job Summary:
Under indirect supervision, process all outgoing USPS mail for the Northwest Region, analyzing mail pieces for proper addressing, class, and rate selection, as well as monitor and record any appropriate documentation deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the Regional Mail Center (RMC). Consult and educate regional customers regarding optimizing mail piece design, class, and rate selection to ensure maximum service and cost savings for the region. Process any departmental recharges of postage, monitor and account for bulk mailings ensure proper funding of all mail permit accounts for the region.Processing outgoing USPS mail for the Northwest Region, analyzing mail pieces for proper addressing, class, and rate selection. Consult with KPNW customers regarding optimum mail piece design, rate, and class selection to ensure maximum service and cost savings for the region.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Prepare and process all outgoing USPS mail in accordance with USPS requirements; analyze outgoing USPS mail for proper address formatting, rate and class selection.
+ Act as a consultant to KPNW customers, providing in-services to ensure that mailer knows how to meet USPS regulations and how to prepare mailing in a cost efficient/effective manner. Provide mail piece design and consultation for customers to ensure each piece qualifies for maximum postage discounts. Analyze individual mailings and consult with management regarding cost savings through better mail piece design and class and rate selection.
+ Monitor and track all bulk mailings for the region, and report on presort vendor performance to the department manager when time or cost issues arise. Act as liaison between USPS and KPNW by keeping current with existing and proposed postal rates and regulations.
+ Initiate payments for annual accounts including but not limited to; P.O. Box, BRMAS, and caller fees for KPNW. Perform the functions of the Mail Center Specialist I as needed by absence or volume of work. Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
+ Minimum two (2) years of experience in operating mailing machines and processing mail in compliance with USPS regulations and determining optimum class/rate of various mail pieces, including letters, flats, and parcels.
+ Experience creating editing spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel, or Access, and using Microsoft Word and Lotus Notes or similar email program.
+ Experience in a busy office environment involving detailed work and meeting deadlines.
+ Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access.
Education
+ High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
+ Drivers License (in location where applicable)
Additional Requirements:
+ Knowledge of high-speed copiers and the uses of other office machines.
+ Ability to read and understand work instructions from a work order or department forms.
+ Proven record of dependability, accuracy, and reliability.
+ Good knowledge of USPS regulations.
+ Familiar with Windows based personal computers, including knowledge of spreadsheets, e-mail, and word processing.
+ Knowledge of inter-office mail procedures.
+ Knowledge of office copiers and machinery.
+ Able to operate high volume mailing machines, including operation of integrated postal scales and accounting systems.
+ Demonstrates ability to prioritize and organize work in a busy environment meeting timeline requirements.
+ Able to understand oral instructions and relay general and technical information orally and in writing.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills dealing with co-workers and customers on a regular basis.
+ A good understanding of and ability to use the Domestic Mail Manual to research/investigate Postal Regulations, as well as know where to call to get the answer from the USPS.
+ Able to move and lift heavy objects up to 75 lbs. for short periods, and to push loaded carts up to 250 lbs. Must posses sufficient manual dexterity to load mail into high speed mailing machines.
+ Must be able to stand and/or walk for majority (85%) of the shift.
