This position reports into the DCS & Control Supervisor.
What you will do:
Maintain and troubleshoot a range of process instrumentation including: Pressure, level, flow, and temperature transmitters. Control valves, positioners, and actuators. Analytical instruments (e.g., pH, conductivity, ammonia) Coriolis and other mass flow meters Devices from Honeywell, Yokogawa, Rosemount, and others Support day-to-day operation, diagnostics, and configuration of Honeywell DCS (Experion PKS). Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View). Use SAP PM to manage work orders, PM schedules, and instrument maintenance history. Perform loop checks, commissioning support, and testing of Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) according to IEC 61511. Maintain accurate technical documentation, including P&IDs, loop drawings, cause-and-effect matrices, and wiring diagrams. Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and EHS teams to improve reliability, safety, and system integrity. Participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process for control system and instrumentation changes. Ensure compliance with Nutrien’s safety standards, Process Safety Management (PSM), and applicable regulatory requirements.
What you will bring:
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Instrumentation, Automation, or Electrical Engineering Technology. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 3–5+ years of I&C experience in a heavy industrial or process plant setting (chemical, fertilizer, mining, oil & gas, etc.). Hands-on experience with: Honeywell Experion DCS Allen-Bradley PLCs / HMIs SAP PM Honeywell, Yokogawa, Rosemount instrumentation Coriolis flow meters Strong troubleshooting and calibration skills using HART communicators, loop calibrators, and diagnostic tools. Knowledge of industrial networking and protocols (HART, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with IEC 61511, SIL verification, and safety lifecycle principles. Experience in a PSM-regulated environment (OSHA 1910.119). Understanding of NFPA 70E, electrical safety, and hazardous area classifications. Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced plant environment.
