Special Procedures RN- Vascular Access Center- Danbury, CT
*Description* *Full time Special Procedures RN position in the Vascular Access center department in* *Danbury, CT* *40 hours per week, 8 hour shifts, Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00.* *Perioperative nurse with cardiac monitoring experience * Summary: Provides professional care and assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process in collaboration with other health care team members. Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance. Responsibilities: 1. Understands patient monitoring, monitoring equipment and emergency equipment. 2. Understands medicines, medication administration, medication complications, aseptic technique and universal precautions. 3. Utilizes rational protection measures in accordance with Center protocols. 4. Obtains an allergy history to evaluate risk factors that contra-indicate the use of intravenous contract material. 5. Identifies early signs of contrast media reactions. 6. Administers medications in a safe and proper manner including all aspects of moderate sedation preparation, administration, evaluation and complications management. 7. Understands patient monitoring principles including the ability to recognize and react appropriately to life-threatening arrhythmias from the cardiac monitor. 8. Understands oxygen therapy, manage an airway for resuscitation and manage all available forms of oxygen delivery devices. 9. Maintains all forms of Point of Care Testing equipment and the ability to perform testing and/or quality control measures. 10. Operates and troubleshoots the pulsimeter, maintains the Non-invasive Blood Pressure unit, Defibrillator/cardiac monitor and the ability to perform monitoring and/or quality control procedures. 11. Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values. 12. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance. 13. Performs other duties as required. *Requirements:* ** *Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or college, BSN preferred* *CTRegistered Nurse License* *ACLS* *BLS* *Conscious Sedation Certification* *Preferred experience in a dialysis access center* *Desired: Interventional Radiology experience as well as Dialysis Access*Working Conditions: Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Some occupational risk Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
