Job Summary

\n

The Special Imaging Supervisor helps the Management team supervise, plan, organize, and improve Radiology services. These include Diagnostic Radiology/Interoperative, CT, MRI, US, IR, or Nuclear Medicine. The Director and/or Radiologist provide instructions. The supervisor performs department orientation, teaches, coaches, supervises staff, and performs imaging exams in their modalities. They ensure the organization's vision, mission, values, and goals are followed. They recommend and help develop policies and procedures to meet regulatory standards and Baylor Scott & White Health philosophy. They act as a department liaison when the manager is absent.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nOversees the delivery and quality of imaging services. Ensures timely, accurate, and cost-efficient exams and patient preparation. Complies with System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures. Performs procedures as needed due to workload or complexity.\nEnsures enough staff, supplies, and resources are available for exams and services. Schedules, monitors, evaluates, and adjusts staffing to meet needs.\nInterviews, counsels, and completes performance evaluations. Trains new staff and ensures all registrations and certifications are current. Partners with the management team and staff. Conducts multidisciplinary staff meetings for consistent and timely communication.\nFacilitates goal setting for staff in imaging sections. Monitors goals and achievements. Ensures goals are reflected in annual performance evaluations. Encourages participation in Employee Satisfaction and Patient Safety surveys. Provides service feedback results to staff. Initiates a plan for improvement.\nPartners with Management to develop a department budget. Provides feedback on new and replacement equipment and services needed for growth. Monitors operational budgets and implements corrective action plans for negative productivity and expense variances.\nPromotes a culture of service excellence in imaging by partnering with management. Communicates service excellence, patient-centeredness expectations, and customer satisfaction survey results. Holds self and staff accountable for service excellence in their areas. Facilitates reward and recognition in the imaging sections of Radiology.\nActs as a Radiology liaison to other departments. Develops cooperative relationships with physicians and medical departments to exchange information. Implements solutions to problems. Assists in developing, reviewing, and revising policies and procedures. Communicates and implements targets that help Department and System priorities.\nAssists in ensuring the imaging sections comply with JCAHO, TDH standards, and other accrediting bodies.\nIdentify patient service needs using AIDET when talking to patients. Ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients and others who know about the service needs.\nCoordinates and runs groups on patient safety, customer service, performance improvement, and environment of care. Focuses on Employee Engagement, Physician Engagement, Quality Improvement, and Inter-Departmental Relations. Participates in mutual governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees. This includes LEAN initiatives, 5S projects, inter-departmental committees, or professional organization participation. Involves QC assurance with radiologists.\n\n

\n\nAble to perform high-quality advanced imaging procedures according to exam protocol. Comply with System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures. Explain the procedure to put patients at ease.\nAble to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.\nAble to stay calm and helpful during stress. Take reasonable steps to resolve issues.\nEnsure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction performance, and develop action plans when needed.\nDemonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for caring for these age groups: newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric.\nAble to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.\nAble to make tactical choices about allocating and directing supervised employees' work using established guidelines, policies, or procedures.\nAble to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.\nAble to train and evaluate performance of supervised staff.\nGeneral computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.\nAble to take call, if required.\n\n

QUALIFICATIONS

\n

EDUCATION: Grad of an Accredited Program

\n

EXPERIENCE: 3yr of relevant MRI experience and 2yr of leadership experience

\n

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION

\n

·       BLS within 30 days of hire/transfer

\n

·       Licensed by State of TX Medical Board (TMB) as Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)

\n

\n

·       American Reg MRI Tech (ARMRIT), ARRT-MR Magnetic Res Imaging (ARRT-MR), ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R): Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT(MR) or Radiography ARRT(R) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT)
