Special Education Teacher - School-Age - Brookside School Overview Requisition Number: 7609 Date Posted: 7/21/2025 Location: Brookside Address: 11 Tanhouse Brook Road City: Cottekill Category: Education Description The Brookside School, located in Cottekill (close to SUNY Ulster) is seeking a Certified Special Education School-Age Teacher, who is r esponsible for providing high-quality, individualized education to students with multiple disabilities. Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to: + Providing individualized and group instruction: Adapting and delivering tailored instruction and curriculum modifications to meet diverse student learning needs, utilizing differentiated instruction, multi-sensory techniques, scaffolding, and accommodations. + Monitoring student progress: Tracking student performance, collecting data and assessing the effectiveness of interventions, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure continuous student growth. + Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s). Collaborating with administration, clinical coordinator, related service providers, school districts and parents to create and implement legally compliant IEP’s, outlining specific academic and behavioral goals, services and accommodations. + Completing all necessary documentation required including IEP updates, Progress Notes and Annual Progress Summaries for all students in a timely manner and in the required format. + Developing weekly lesson plans and assuring they are available for all classroom staff to carry out in the event of an absence. + Appropriately supervising and evaluating assigned Teaching Assistants and Teacher Aides. + Communicating effectively with parents of all students using techniques such as daily notes, phone contact, parent conferences, the Remind app, and, when possible, inviting parents to participate in classroom activities. + Transition Planning: Assisting students in preparing for post-school life by developing individualized transition plans focused for after aging out of school age program. + Work cooperatively and communicate frequently with related service providers who provide services to students to the students in the classroom We offer a generous benefits package for our full-time staff, including tuition assistance!
