Job Qualifications NYS certification : Special Education (secondary level - grades 7-8) preference for candidates with secondary certifications in ELA, Science, Social Studies, or Math. Create and deliver lessons grounded in researched best practice and currentformative data. Individualize learning experiences, as appropriate, creating flexible grouping for learning experiences. Observe and evaluate students' performance. Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans, posting learning goals for each lesson as appropriate. Manage student behavior in the classroom with appropriate disciplinary tactics. Meet course, grade-level, and district performance goals. Maintain grades and grade book (electronic). Participate in regular, ongoing professional training, and read and stay abreast of current topics in education. Work with administrators to ensure district and state initiatives are being met. Develop and utilize various curriculum resources. Participate in curriculum writing/modification sessions. Utilize curriculum that reflects the diversity of educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served. Create a positive educational climate for students to participate in, promoting success for students of all abilities.
