Job Title: Space Systems Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Journeyman Space Systems Engineer to support the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) within the Global Mission Operations (GMO) Space Integration Branch at the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC), located at Los Angeles Air Force Base. This role involves supporting programs through the analysis of architectures, missions, operations, sensor control networks, and mission-critical systems across the USSF Space Enterprise. Additionally, you will be engaged in integration activities of space systems to develop and deploy system-of-systems capabilities across the SSC portfolio and the broader USSF space enterprise.

ResponsibilitiesSupport the development of mission-specific and cross-portfolio capabilities that integrate and augment current and future space systems.Analyze and assess mission areas to enhance access to intelligence across programs and improve mission effectiveness across the portfolio.Perform mission engineering on Design Reference Missions and analyze mission threads for risks, issues, and capability gaps.Conduct technical capability reviews at the system level through system implementation to assess gaps and recommend solutions for evolving space mission needs.Contribute to the development of war rooms, capability epochs, and kill chain assessments.Assist with enterprise requirements development and Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documentation.Analyze policy and technical derivatives of cross-cutting requirements for space missions.Recommend practical, mission-driven solutions to meet performance, affordability, and operational goals.Facilitate integration activities across multiple government agencies.Support the development and deployment of system-of-systems capabilities within the USSF space enterprise.Essential SkillsTechnical program leadership of a technical implementation team.Experience building, leading, and maintaining a team of government personnel, FFRDCs, and contractors.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and adaptable to new analytical tools.Proficiency in JIRA/Confluence.Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex tasks in a fast-paced environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with space acquisition (military, contractor, or DoD civilian) as a SETA or SE&I support staff.Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle and JCIDS processes.Experience in SSC mission areas including SATCOM, PNT, NAV/MTMD, Space Weather, C3BM, Space Superiority, ISR, and Ground/Network segments.Experience with developing requirements/implementing capabilities for USSF Space Enterprise systems.Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Engineering or Mathematics required.10+ years relevant experience required.TS/SCI DoD security clearance required.Work Environment

This position is onsite at the Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo within a cleared environment, involving Special Access Programs (highly classified programs). Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $77.00/hr.
