**Position Summary**
The Spa Manager at Spa Alila is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the spa operation, including guest service, team leadership, scheduling, budgeting, marketing support, and facility upkeep. This is a managerial role, but because we operate a smaller, highly personalized spa, it also requires a hands-on approach.
The Spa Manager must be willing and able to step into daily operational roles when needed—such as working at the spa desk, answering phones, checking in guests, or performing spa coordinator tasks—to ensure a smooth and consistent guest experience. This individual leads by example and sets the tone for a calm, thoughtful, and welcoming spa environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Manage daily operations of Spa Alila, including scheduling, retail, guest services, cleanliness, and general ambiance
+ Hire, train, and lead a small team of spa professionals, providing clear expectations, consistent feedback, and support
+ Ensure a hands-on presence, including regular shifts at the spa front desk as needed to cover operational needs or support the team
+ Oversee and coordinate guest wellness offerings beyond traditional spa services, including yoga, breathwork, Reiki, and meditation classes
+ Partner with internal and external practitioners to maintain a diverse and balanced calendar of wellness experiences
+ Oversee retail inventory, vendor relationships, and product ordering
+ Partner with resort sales and marketing teams to support wellness programming, promotions, and special events
+ Respond to guest inquiries, feedback, or concerns with prompt and thoughtful solutions
+ Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and hygiene protocols and maintain necessary licensing requirements
+ Monitor and analyze spa financial performance, including budget forecasting and expense management
+ Research industry trends and local competitors to continuously refine and elevate the guest experience
**Qualifications:**
**Qualifications**
+ Minimum 2 years of spa or wellness management experience, preferably in a boutique or luxury setting
+ Proven leadership skills and a collaborative, supportive approach to managing people
+ Strong interpersonal and guest service skills, with the ability to gracefully handle a variety of guest situations
+ Willingness to work directly with guests at the spa desk and perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing payments
+ Experience with or interest in holistic wellness disciplines such as yoga, meditation, or energy work preferred
+ Familiarity with spa software platforms such as Book4Time or similar systems
+ Strong organizational and communication skills
+ CPR/First Aid certification preferred
+ A background in massage therapy, esthetics, or holistic wellness is a plus, but not required
**Compensation**
This is a full-time, salaried position with an annual pay range of $70,000 to $75,000. This range reflects what Alila Ventana Big Sur reasonably expects to offer, based on experience and qualifications.
